Well my friend and her mom were out at some store in ohio, she was wearing her OSU shirt (Weak I know) and the owner asked her if she was a fan, etc. Well he then said his nephew ben martin was being looked at by ND and OSU and that martin had told him that coach weiss wasnt nice, and that he will probably head to osu. I know this is a i heard from someone who heard and so on, but i really hope its not indication of where he plans on going.

Damn it, I hate it when Charlie forgets to bring the wads of cash to potential recruits. This is why Tressell is always one step ahead of him.

If this is accurate, and I'll reserve my opinion, then Ben Martin does not deserve to be a member of the Notre Dame Fightin' Irish.

Coaches are just that, coaches. Buddies, friends, pals they are not.

Its sad to say, but this is not the first time I have heard stuff like this about Weis.

Probably just some idiot pretending to be somebody he isn't. If Martin felt that way about Weis, I doubt ND would have stayed in the picture this long.

Weis definitely does not strike me as the hugging type, so if this is true, and this is what he is looking for in a coach, he would be going to the wrong school because Weis caters to no one.

This topic reminds me of the Deonte Thompson thread over at Domer Domain. While the information may be credible, doubt will still be present since it came from a "friend-of-a-friend" type situation.

While I agree Coaches are supposed to be Coaches not friends if it is true and Martin does head to OSU this class isn't the monumental class that I thought it was going to be. Obviously it will still be very good but after the Clausen verbal I thought the floodgates were going to open.

Yeah I have to agree. This class is a let down so far. I hope this picks up soon.

Have patience...it's early yet.

USC had very few recruits this time last year.

We will end up with a top10 class...have no doubt

If we land Benn, Martez Wilson, Ben Martin (and I firmly believe we will), Ryan Miller, Michael Williams or Marcus Gilchrist, Greg Little, Harrison Smith, Golden Tate (if we offer), Dailey (if we can offer), and Will Blackwell, this will be an incredibly successful class.

As things stand, we're in the lead for every one of those names I mentioned, with only three close exceptions: Gilchrist, Martez Wilson (but Miami has to offer), and maybe Harrison Smith. Smith is in Tennessee, so we'll just have to see how that works out.

I think the running back situation is a little over-hyped. We won't need to get one this year if we can find a truly elite recruit in next year's class. If Weis can go out and find a prospect of that caliber this year and recruit him in the same fashion as Jimmy Clausen, it can be done.

I think Toryan Smith will prove to be our future MLB (and a damn good one), while guys like Martez Wilson and Nagel can play on the outside. I saw Nagel's film last night and liked what I saw. I think he's a lot better than he's given credit for. He might be an all-american one day.

How many da osu fans would have something nice to say about coach Weis? For all we know is this guy is talking trash while bashing ND and Weis. If that was said, then we should have heard more about this somewhere else and not be in Martin’s top two. Right now we have some great recruits with more to come. Two years ago we would have been happy at the end of the season to get the talent that we already have said they are coming to ND. Weis appears to be working when some of the guys make a verbal to ND public, so how much do we really know until February, which is a very long way off.

I thought we rated the class after they were all signed in Feb. Am I missing something? Too early to judge anything. Let the coaches do their job and let us enjoy the ride..

This class is awesome so far, and once the season starts and we smoke everyone more kids will be lining up to play for ND.

How soon we forget the days of Willingham and his two commits by September.

Exactly. Just two years ago we had 15 recruits, most of which were 3 stars or less. Hell, that class had two 4 star players. Are you kidding me?

This class is going great. We loose out on Ogelsby and Tyler and everyone is sad. Wait until the end. I think we have a great shot at having a top 3 class and maybe the top class over all. But forget that, we're going to have a killer season with a chance for a NC. Who cares about the recruiting rankings if our guys win it all?

Regarding Harrison Smith & Chris Donald, Phil Fulmer will take care of them for us. UT's schedule at the beginning of the season is Cal/AF/UF...Good Luck, you tubby bastard! Cal comes out and does well...might beat UT, AF's offense can sneak up on you if you aren't careful (Ask Glenn Earl)...Florida might scare UT into a loss with its army of WRs. THat is not to count the rest of the UT schedule which includes SEC powerhouses. Phil will defintely help our recruiting.
