This kind of disturbs me...it's only from one kid, but it makes me interested to see what the other recruits thought. [a buddy of mine e-mailed this to me]

********************

Dave Molk, the No. 10 prospect, in the Midwest, according to Scout.com, has several scholarship offers under his belt. The 6-foot-2, 270-pound, offensive lineman, from Lemont, Ill., is one of the top center prospects in the nation. Molk is enjoying his summer and he’s going to be taking a few unofficial visits.

Does Molk have a leader at this time? When does he plan on making a verbal commitment? We’ve got those answers.

“I went to Notre Dame for a one-day camp earlier this month.” Dave Molk told Scout.com

“I was actually disappointed in the competition at the (Notre Dame) camp. There were a lot of big, fat, lineman there that couldn’t move at all. Overall it wasn’t bad though. I was also disappointed that we didn’t get to compete in one-on-one drills.

“We had a lunch after the camp but the (Notre Dame) coaches all sat in one corner and didn’t talk to anyone and I didn’t get that. When we left, Coach Ianello told me that he’d be in touch.”

Molk attended the Scout.com All-American combine in Iowa City this past April where he and Miami Hurricanes commitment Harland Gunn, dominated the competition.

Molk reminds us a lot of former Notre Dame center Jeff Faine. Next stop for Molk on the camp trail will be Michigan on June 20th.

“Michigan is going to be my last camp of the summer,” Molk said. “I still plan on getting out to West Virginia for an unofficial visit but that’s about it. West Virginia, Michigan, Wisconsin and Arizona State are the latest schools to offer me a scholarship.”

If you ask Molk if he could name a leader right now if a gun were pointed at his head, he’d tell you that he’d have to take the bullet. If there’s not a leader, does Molk have a list of favorites in mind?

“My favorites right now are Wisconsin, Michigan, West Virginia, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan State and I’d probably say…..Northwestern.” Molk said.

“As far as commitment is concerned, I’d like to get it done before the season, hopefully by August.”

Molk was an all-state selection as a junior and he’s a four-star prospect, ranked as the No. 13 offensive line prospect in the nation according to Scout.com

Maybe the coaches didnt want the campers' crappiness to rub off on them.

Well, as for the coaches sitting together at lunch, do you think they could have been discussing the prospects and what they needed to get accomplished after lunch to evaluate the prospects? Unlike other schools, our staff is all business.

If he is looking for buddies, he can go to Florida.

As for the talent, it was a paid camp so Notre Dame doesn't really control the talent or size of the kids. I wonder if it is sour grapes because he got pushed around as he is a smaller OL. There are tons of things to look at here.

I'd say he is just a little girl crying because he didn't have the coaches drooling over him.

That's along the lines I was thinking. I thought he was just pissed off that he knew he wasn't getting an offer.

For the record, I think camps are somewhat obsolete. Combines are much, much more important.

completely agree guys, he sounds like he didn't get pampered and is po'd for the lack of attention...then again maybe he wasn't all that impressive. I agree with svo, the staff is all business and they probably were giving impressions on the campers.

Let him cry we don't need him anyway. Too small for our massive oline the next few years and even too small for dline.

Whining little high schooler.

Scout has this guy rated ahead of Barksdale and Saine in the Midwest.

Total rubbish. He's not even close to Dan Wenger's caliber.

Maybe he'll put his money where his mouth is come state playoff time.

Wait a minute, 6-2 270? Calling other recruits FAT? Unless his body fat is 12% or lower, guess what YOUR FAT TOO!! He will fit in well at Miami or Fla where it is all about ME!

He verballed to Michigan...

ND could take the best centers in America two years in a row if they can grab Summers Gavin this year.

Works for me.

Hope he likes getting pushed around by our 6'6" 300lbs guys. How's that for competition?

I would agree, I hope we wrap up Summers-Gavin here soon and will be set at the center position for years to come.

I'm actually surprised we did not look at Molk more. He apparently has been dominant in all the camps he attended this Summer, is strong and has a nasty streak. That all works for me at Center. Not sure what the deal was...

It's possible that he wasn't interested. Recruiting's a two way street.

I'm not.

The offer list is a who's who of All Americans. Molk is a nice Midwest guy, but he doesn't stack up to what this staff is currently going after.

BTW, with Summers Gavin's offer ND has now offered the top ranked player at every position but Safety.

Take a look at his picture on Scout http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=8&c=1&nid=2456453

He's no chubby. Benches 385 and Squats 570 those are good numbers for freshman - college freshman. He leaps 28 inches - big vertical for an OL.

Good student 3.0/25 ACT

Rivals gives him 3 Stars; Scout 4.

Scout lists him #13 OL overall.

I like the Scout writeup "Molk is car like quick off the ball. he is very intense and plays the game with bad intentions."

I hope he doesn't play like the NT from BC that use to give us fits.
