Marc Tyler will be announcing his college choice this upcoming Thursday on ESPN TV per ESPN Insider. More as more details become known.

As you may know, it is down to USC and Notre Dame with many inside sources stating that Tyler will be selecting USC. If he does, please remember to keep it civil because he is a young kid and it is his decision. Anyway, good luck to Tyler anyplace he goes!

Well, the USC Rivals guy Gerald Martinez has said for nearly a month that Tyler has been a silent commit to the Trojans, and about the same time, Steve Smith's little brother Malcolm posted congrats to Marc on his MySpace.

Too much coincidence for me to believe otherwise.

Like I said, kid is going to have a great career at USC and I wish him the best unless he is playing the Irish. It was his decision and you have to respect him for making it.

Does anyone else find the timing of his announcement strange?

We have been accustomed to a new commit to Notre Dame every couple of weeks and as of this moment, I can't recall hearing of someone we are recruiting hard announcing soon, other than Tyler.

The timing of his commitment just rings strange to me.

I thought if he was announcing early ND was likely going to be the choice?

But with the Malcolm Smith stuff and whatnot its hard to believe.

I don't believe we have him but the timing so far this summer...wouldn't suprise me if he did say ND.

I was a big believer in Tyler being Irish, but I doubt it will be the case anymore. He played the game and played it well. I honestly don't think the "70% ND" thing was ever real. I think he was Trojan all along.

We'll see what happens.

He is going to USC, and I don't think I care that much. I mean he is good and all, but I don't know if I like him. If we can get someone to replace him.I wouldn't care at all if he went to USC.

Source or gut feeling? While I think SC, I am very confused by the situation.

So you hope he has good games against ND? Because if he goes to SC he's playing us every year. If he goes there I hope he's a bust, or is injured all the time. Either one works.

I agree with LuckoftheIrish86, if Marc is Irish, then it will suck for him to read this to know what Irish fans think of him as ND player. I wish him luck where ever he goes and he was very nice to talk with at the Blue Gold Game.

Agreed, I had a chance to meet him as well and he was very gracious and sweet to my son. Good luck Marc wherever you end up.

absolutely gentlemen,

we are not going to get every kid we want...while it is great we are ravenouse fans...these are kids and it is their decision to make. If he goes with us fantastic...if he goes with the poodle, that sucks. But God speed to him, hope nothing but the best and may he play his worst games against us....or should I say may we have our best games against usc.

If he comes to ND that is great I think he is an awesome talent, but if he goes to USC I could care less how his career ends up. I don't wish anything bad on him, but I wouldn't wish him well either.

I hope he wouldn't gain a yard against Notre Dame, otherwise I don't care what he does against Arizona and Cal.

I wouldn't wish being a "bust' on anyone.

Wishing injury on someone is not anything I would recommend doing. I will say this: if he were to get hurt at SC, it would be a lot different than if he got hurt at ND.

Where would you rather be if football were taken away from you?

If Tyler chooses SC, then he obviously felt it is his best fit. Would could use New Jersey recruiting tactics and start putting guns to their heads, I suppose.

I don't know how everyone else feels but I want to win. I don't care how but I want to win(without cheating or something bad like that). So if Tyler doesn't go to Notre Dame, I hope he sucks and does nothing in his career at USC. But if he does good to Notre Dame then I am going to love him and hope he does awesome. I am sorry if no one else agrees with me but thats how I feel.

I've made no secret that Tyler is the guy I want ND to get at RB. If he goes to USC, I hope that we bust him up good whenever we play them. I hope he doesn't get hit by lightning or anything, but in the realm of competition whatever he would do with USC would really only be a matter of concern for me when he lines up against Minter's 11.

At the same time, we move on and find the guy to come in that wants to be here regardless of whether he is close to home, has fun in practice or gets to meet Lindsey Lohan and Nick Lachey.

Finally, a sensible post.

If a guy goes to a rival of ND instead of ND, I just have to hope he has a bad career. Simple as that. It's my responsibility as an ND fan. Those who forget Reggie Bush are doomed to repeat him.

I will agree with both of you, but I draw the line when someone wishes harm or injuries to those who do not commit to the Irish. That just isn't right.

It depends on the injury. I mean wishing a guy failure is no worse than wishing him injury, so long as you don't wish him life-threatening injury. But knee problems? By all means.

So you think that a guy fumbling 3 times for loss of possession and rushing for 2 yards on 30 carries every game is the same as snapping his knee and possibly never being able to play the game he has loved since he was a little kid? Wow.

I think having a horrible college career is just as bad as having an injury-riddled one, yea. Maybe worse. Either way you're not playing after college, but at least with the injury one you've got some excuse for the rest of your life.

No "wow" about it. It's not some radical point.

And by the time you get to major college football, you're a long way from "love of the game" stuff. These guys are mercenaries. Look at the recruiting process.

In your opinion. It's just that I see what you are saying, and it just reminds me of those idiots in the stands that will stand up, applaud, and cheer when the star player from an opposing team goes down with injury (and don't get hacked off because I am not calling YOU an idiot, I am referring to the idiots in my example). To me, in my opinion, that just isn't right.

I wouldn't cheer, but I'd be happy for my team.

I'm a fan who's honest with himself about his being a fan. I know what it is to root for a football team. It's irrational and ugly much of the time. You root for guys even if they're bad guys for no other reason than that they're on your team. You root against good guys just cause they're on opposing teams. And though you don't cheer (or shouldn't), you're happy when an opponent gets hurt and is out. Remember the Mike Hart injury? Be honest, now: would you rather Mike Hart hadn't had that injury experience, or that ND had gotten that win? If he plays, maybe we lose.

Being a real fan of a sports team is an ugly thing at times.

I will agree with some of the things in here Fitz.

As far as the Mike hart injury, I don't think it affected me either way. I remember that he was a threat that game and that he got injured, but was injury going to secure an ND win? Who knows. Was I doing cartwheels and hoping that someone would do a Nancy Kerrigan on his knee and a WWE pile driver to finish the job? Hell no. It happened, but I did not wish it upon him.

"If he plays, maybe we lose". Yeah, but if he plays, maybe we win too. I just don't want to win because of somebody's misfortune or painful injury. I want to win because we were the better team that day.

In the spirit of competition, I look forward to seeing Matt Carufel and Chris Stewart knock Jason Kates and Butch Lewis around in the future. I also hope they knock around the guys who play for UM and SC that didn't have Irish offers.

If Marc Tyler goes to USC, I hope Notre Dame has some defensive tackles to plug up the middle so Tyler can't run.
