As much as I want football season to start, I hate seeing my summer being counted down.

99 days. Can't come soon enough for me. I'll have the summer to build back my tolerance for the pre-game festivities associated with Notre dame pre game. Those Sunday post victory hangovers hurt more and more the older I get.

This is the hardest stretch of the year for me. I'm not much of a baseball or golf fan, so once the NBA and NHL playoffs end, there's just nothing....

I've already begun preparing for a varsity assistant coaching position (unpaid) and I feel pressed for time.

I definitely can't wait. I already put in my order for The Shirt and got my daughter he ND jersey for the year (she is 3 next month). My son gets the hand-me-down jersey from my daughter (he is 3 months old now...so he will be 7 months when the season starts).

We are ready to roll!!!!!!!!!!!!

September 9, 1974: ND opens with a 31-7 pasting of Georgia Tech. This is the game that an unruly Tech crowd taunted the Notre Dame players with racial and anti-catholic insults. They threw fish and liquor bottles on the field, and a couple of the players mentioned that they actually feared for their safety as the game ended.

It still can't get here soon enough. I want a glimpse into what the rest of season could hold. Rhema back, majority of starting defense back, Samardja and Walker racking up TDs? Will Sam Young be the one to help fortify the offensive line? Will Quin and Weis bringing the offense to a level never before seen in the modern Irish era, including converting at least 60% of third downs attempts? And how about shutting down other teams third down attempts once in a while? Hopeful wishing I know. Very exciting time to be an Irish fan!
