IMO Tyler would have to be crazy to pass up the Irish. He could go to SC and wait behind the four excellent backs they got last year (who granted could play other positions). That packed with the fact that he's got Jimmy in his ear telling him how great ND is, and that they could win a title together and blah blah. I'd say he ends up with the Irish.

Clausen - Advantage Or Disadvantage

Clausen - Advantage Or Disadvantage

It seems like every post that mentions Tyler and the possibility of him committing to Notre Dame mentions Clausen. I'm beginning to wonder whether this is an advantage or disadvantage? It's almost as though he doesn't have a separate identity - "he lives with Jimmy," "he goes to school with Jimmy," "Jimmy is helping recruit him.""Jimmy is 1 and Tyler is 1A." Maybe he wants to get AWAY from the substantial shadow that is Jimmy Clausen and establish his own identity. In other words, the conscious or unconscious linking of him to Jimmy Clausen - that many Irish fans seem to preface their comments - might be driving him away not bringing him closer to South Bend. I really hope that Coach Weis can convince him to attend Notre Dame on his own merits - which are substantial.

I think he'll go to SC because the story-line sounds too 'right'.

The good news, though, is that Weis & Co. havn't been handing out any more offers to a RB, which could suggest that they think he'll be Irish.

I don't think Tyler has made an announcement date yet. I was confused by that too - but I'm pretty sure all it means is that the bet is over on June 1 and it pays out after June 1st, which could be much later depending on when he commits. I think he said that he wanted to catch a game at the Big House before he made his mind. Was Tyler at ND for the USC game last year? Is he planning on coming to any games this year that you know of?
