After losing Gray I've been yearning for a DB with a little bit of speed and Gilchrist here seems to fit the bill.
Looks like an amazing athlete and a pretty good open field tackler. Most of his video consists of amazing return skills but also has little glimpses of good reads and the corner spot. Kid's down right athletic.....

This kid looks flat out amazing, what position would he most likely play in college, does anyone know. He looks like he would be a great corner/kick returner. Has ND offered him yet?

two things...

the coaches at that school have taught some incredible blocking. this kid had huge holes to run through. but also, his speed and his VISION on the field is amazing. you can see him using the momentum of the opposing players against them by forcing them to run into blockers or breaking their ankles as he jukes. that combo of skills (speed and vision) can place him at many positions on the football field.

A tremendous special teams asset. As much as I'd love to see them grab Dionte Allen, I think Allen is looking elsewhere. Gilchrist is someone I hope ND chases hard.

I know UM is chasing him hard. It scares me to think of him running back kicks against us.

I caught that block. Ouch! I've given and been on the receiving end of that.

This kid could definitely play on both sides of the ball. I'd love to see him used as a scat back, cathing passes out of the backfield, screens and draws. Then specials teams, obviously and then some nickel / dime. He can't play every play of the game, but with that much speed, he needs to be out there.

He is a jack-of-all-trades type of player...could be used as a Jeff Burris (a DB that could also come in and play TB).

If they can swing Williams and Gilchrist, that would be a nice corner combo to join Walls and McNeil.

For those with Rivals, the abstract of this article suggests that ND is the front runner for Gilchrist.

Actually just finished up his recruiting profile. Go to the 2007 Recruiting Profiles forum and you can find his profile in there. Links to some good resources, video, etc.

It may be, Pants, and I hope that is the case. However, Irish Illustrated and the rest of the Rivals sub-sites will write how the kid feels towards their particular school. Thus each article makes it feel as though the kid is a lean to that school.

I like what I read here, but I have a feeling UNC has the inside track just based on how many times he's been there to visit unofficially. Sounds a lot like Gary Gray.

It's sounding like UNC could have a monster year in recruiting. This is surprising with having a coach on the hot seat.
