Notre Dame fans were in ecstasy after prized quarterback recruit Jimmy Clausen staged -- literally -- his announcement that he was committing to the Irish for 2007. Dennis Dodd says that latest oneupsmanship in the recruiting process shows just how out of hand it has all become.

Yeah, I feel it too. We can go to the Army AA and watch countless recruits disrespect great colleges by putting on one hat, tossing it, and then putting on another in front of thousands of fans and millions of viewers. However, one Notre Dame recruit commits at the HOF and someone wants to write an article about it. Sheesh! Gimme a break.

All this means is that the more we see these types of articles, the closer ND is to it's 12th National Championship!
Which really irritates all those haters.

Its great to see that Notre Dame football is relevant again. God Bless Charlie Weis!!!!!!! Hopefully in the coming weeks and months he'll be writing articles on his perceived flaws in Marc Tyler, Duval Kamara, Arrelious Benn, Mike Ragone, Justin Trattou, Joseph Barksdale, Michael Williams, Major Wright, etc. al. Perhaps he'll carry the absurdity a step further and predict the downfall of the university for bringing in these players rather than acknowledging that it could be the greatest recruiting class in college football history!

The standard line from my friends that call themselves PSU fans is 'ND has too many good QBs. It will be nothing but trouble' It amazing that they all say the same thing. It's like someone sent out a 'talking points' email

What makes me laugh is how much attention and scrutiny Clausen is getting because he chose Notre Dame.

Had he chosen USC, it would have been"following the line of Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart at Quarterback" blah blah blah etc.

Now, he's been held back a year and is an older senior, the next Ron Powlus and his brothers suck.

I even heard one guy say, "He is only planning on going to college for three years and then turning pro."

OH MY GOD!!! Someone turning professional EARLY in sports? This can't be. How can this be. The children!! Won't someone please think of our children!!

They're skeered. All of them. Notre Dame is becoming a recruiting behemoth again and they don't like it. That's just too bad. It's going to happen anyway whether they want it to or not. Go Irish!! It will be like the old days when I would sit in front of the TV and the band would play the fight song every 10 minutes. Then my mother (God bless her) would ask, "They scored again?!" with mild disbelief. Then I would say, "Yes mom, they scored again and now the score is 42-3." The old days will be the present once again. I love it! Charlie has definitely raised the expectation level.

my absolute favorite is the way sites are pointing out his hair, his "limp wrist" displaying his rings in a pic, etc. because they know they can't truly doubt his talent. they can talk about his brothers but they were never this highly evaluated.

if they got him at their school they'd call him a god. instead he's a destined flop at nd. perhaps if it were during davieham, but not now. and all the rest of the country can do is pray weis screws up...not gonna happen.
