STARSHIP TROOPERS is on BBCAmerica...
Talk about a bad movie
The whole film is pure SH*T...but it's so bad that I love it, and have to watch.

Starship Troopers actually has a lot going on behind the scenes in terms of symbolism. The symbolism isn't particularly deep, but it's hidden so well because the movie seems so consistently stupid.

Here's one of my favorite film analyst taking as hard a look at Starship Troopers as a normal person would a Kubrick film. I was pleasantly surprised.

Oh I know. I have read the book my good man. Tons of symbolism....but the movie is still a turd. It is really pathetic. The book is actually a really interesting read.

Am I the only one who's following the title of "bad movie"?

Lol.

This is one of my best examples. In the middle of one of the worst movies I've ever seen is one of the best sword fights I've ever seen. No silly choreographed moves that look more like dancing (Episode I duel), no digital effects or blood splatter(every action movie of the last 5 years). Just a good fight with good direction that is more about showing the emotional state of the characters than pretty violence for the sake of violence. Hell it even made me get emotionally involved for five seconds with this abomination of a film. Then the rest of the movie happened, and I got bored.

Maybe I should have made the title font bigger. I guess everyone is entitled to his opinion, but I still don't see how "They Live", "The Last Starfighter" and "Starship Troopers" wound up on here.

But speaking of Paul Verhoeven, I might as well throw "Basic Instinct" on here. And I don't think I have to say what scene in that movie almost made it worth watching.
