Could be the file being corrupted. Maybe we should think again about restarting with all these things going wrong.
Dynasty Advanced and Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone!
As a side note, I'm not happy with the sliders we've been using. And if it is deemed clear the dynasty is corrupt (I'm not totally sold on that, plenty of things to go wrong with an EA product) then I want better sliders for a restart.
I've been playing with some slider sets and if some of you Offensive Juggernauts can give it a try and post your comments/results that would be awesome.
Here's the slider set I've been working on:
Skill: Heisman
Quarter: 5 minutes
Game Speed: Slow
Minimum Speed Threshold: 40
Skill: (USER / CPU)
QB Accuracy: 25 / 30
Pass Blocking: 35/45
WR Catching: 40/40
RB Ability: 50/60
Run Blocking: 50/60
Pass Coverage: 55/65
Pass Rush: 50/55
Interceptions: 35/35
Rush Defense: 35/45
Tackling: 40/40
FG Power: 40/50
FG Accuracy: 40/50
Punt Power: 40/45
Punt Accuracy: 45/50
Kickoff Power: 45/45
Penalties:
Offsides: 70
False Start: 65
Holding: 50
Facemask: 45
Offensive Pass Interference: 100
Defensive Pass Interference: 100
KR/PR Interference: 100
Clipping: 40
Intentional Grounding: 100
Roughing the Passer: 40
Roughing the Kicker: 65
Sorry, but I won't get the game in tonight. I'm having some problems with the game slowing down really bad. Very frustrating. Gonna try and reboot my wifi and router. Try tomorrow.
Who is Nebraska? They're still user controlled, no?
My QB isn't going to put up the numbers of some of you pass-happy guys, but he is certainly going to compete in the "total TDs" department. Damn 11-game schedule.
I've have a similar view. When I run Boston College I have to play a very specific offense. I don't have 4 or 5 star players. I knew i wouldnt be able to score big points vs FSU, so i took as much time off of the clock that i could just to try and slow the pace of the game down. I know there are certain throws my QB can and cannot make. It's actuly been a fun challenge playing in this dynasty bc it's so challenging. Hopefully I can get continue to build my recruiting data base. I've looked at the points a lot of the other teams are scoring, WOW.
Definitely the right strategy. When we first started this dynasty, one of my first games was against Oklahoma. I quickly learned I didn't know how to throw the ball with these settings, or lock down the computers passing attack. So, I turned on "chew clock" and ran the ball every play. The entire game against Oklahoma, they only got the ball three times. They finished with -25 yards of offense, and I controlled like 95% of the clock. That's how I learned to love the power rushing game.
I'm transitioning to more of a spread offense now since my QB is a great athlete (my playbook has it all though, so I can still go to 'three yards and a cloud of dust' at any time). It's tough trying to put up the yardage numbers that some of the guys in this dyansty have/had (looking at you, Alamo). Need more speed on the outside to abuse the deep ball I guess. Only one legit speed threat at WR at the moment.
Dre1919 was Nebraska, but he bowed out.
So no user game. Boo.
Yeah sorry, Beau.
In regards to the sliders and offensive strategy, I am seriously considering changing the sliders over to the new set at the end of the season. Sooner if they prove favorable to a few of you trying them out. I have made a couple small adjustments, but am pretty happy with them right now.
The net effect of these changes are:
- 5 minutes quarters provide quicker game play and deflate some statistics.
- Harder to pass the football (more pass defense), BUT
- Less interceptions (they're DB's for a reason, more batted down balls, interceptions must be cleaner, as opposed to magical).
- Linemen shouldn't shed their blocks quite as easily (both sides of the ball).
- Open field tackling is MUCH harder! Better defend the open spaces!
Using them against the computer I have recorded scores of:
AWAY / HOME:
ND 28 - USC 24 --> Won by 4
ALABAMA 14 - ND 24 --> Won by 7
ND 31 - FSU 28 --> Won by 3
LSU 28 - ND 31 --> Lost by 3
ND 21 - LSU 28 --> Lost by 7
ND 34 - LSU 24 --> Won by 10
PURDUE 0 - ND 54 --> Won by kicking-off
*I'd expect scores to go up slightly for higher ranked matches once players adjust to the slider set.
