molly = drugs as ND = golden chains
maybe he traded his ND for Molly?

Loved rap when I was just a lad. 2Live Crew, Luke Skywalker, RunDMC, 2Short, NWA, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Snoop Doggy Dog (in my best Snoop voice). Now, not so much. The cussing, bitch slapping, drug doing, cop killing just doesn't appeal to me anymore. Fvk, I've grown up mom.

No, seriously, didn't need another reference/rap song about ND. This is not the first, and won't be the last.

ND in Reckless rap lyrics with a Reckless song title. Reckless swag.

Someone call Grubl and see if his head exploded.

Why? Recruits like rap. Rap means pop culture recognition, not old wives tales of the glory days. You may not like rap, but its significance its pretty significant.

I don't doubt that it resonates with recruits. But I think many of the traditionalists will tell you that much of the ND mystique is based on ND being blue collar, meaning workman-like, despite it's blue blood cost. ND doesn't resort to the latest fads, to attract it's students(even when those students are athletes). It offers what it has always offered: a world class education at a school that also tries to install the values of hard work, integrity, and honor into it's students. THAT is the Notre Dame Way, not rap songs and bling.

I agree with most of this assessment, but when acknowledging the full iconography, ND has some legit flash mixed in there as well, most notably The Rocket. As a kid, he was my first ND hero, long before I experienced the blue collar grindstone mentality that fits the mission. Then came the Bus... They proved you can do it the right way and yet have some flash. And rap/hip hop is definitely not one type of genre, and can reflect different styles and ethics... not just the popular polarizing stereotypes. Just my two.

That said, the song by Tyga is weak, but many popular songs made today from all genres are soft. Generational taste differences.

"Back in the day, I had a friend. He thought that he was the one who would bring me within the spirit realm and beyond, but then I found out that that friend, his whole mind was gone. The devil that he served tried to bring him through, but I tell you this, the Lord has come true in my heart and he blocked that thing from happenin'. Yo kid, that's why today I am rappin' in the studio with my brothers though I don't really understand, but yo, I have command and authority over spirits that try to block my mental capacity and come near it. They can't touch this. They cannot come true! My name is Raghib Ismael, [tell a God to you (?)]. Don't ask me this or that or those because those who you see on the ground were my foes." (The Rocket)
