NOOO!!!! Hope this doesnt hurt with Konrad

I doubt this changes anything with Reuland, since it isn't that surprising Yeatman committed. Besides, we'll be using multiple TE sets regularly, and we only took Hiben last year.

but the fact is, now this means we will either miss out on Young, Carafel, McCoy, or Rueland

For the first year he'll use a lacrosse scholarship, then use a football scholarship.

Reuland won't be hurt because Yeatman might switch to DE.

Yeatman does not count against this year's group. If you read the article in the link, he explains it all.

Again, Yeatman today. Hopefully Reuland tomorrow and West's EE decision all in one week.

Charlie Weis, pulling the strings.

Yeatman makes his pick

The recruiting process for Will Yeatman ended on Wednesday when the 6-foot-6, 255-pound tight end from California verbally committed to Notre Dame. The catch is that Yeatman will attend Notre Dame on a lacrosse scholarship.

Nayers, why would you want Reuland?

Rivals dropped him from #1 TE to #2.

This bodes well for Notre Dame. As soon as someone verbals or is possibly going to verbal to Weis, their value decreases by one precious star.

Frazer, Jones, Walls.

If ND gets Sam Young or Gerald McCoy, their stock will cave.

Hey, buy low. Graduate high.

Keep in mind Yeatman does NOT count against the 25 man class max/year nor the 85 total scholarships - at this time. He's required to play lacrosse (his scholarship sport) first, then he can play football. If/when he plays football he will count against the 85 max.

Yeatman and the early admissions guys are eliminating the depth problem created by poor past recruiting and exacerbated by the decommitments and transfers which followed the Willingham termination. As ND doesn't take JUCOs it would have taken up to 3 classes to do what is being done this year.

While ND is filling the body count, with talented, intelligent bodies, those bodies won't be up to Division 1 size, strength or level of technique of the upperclassmen they're replacing. On the plus side, their up side is at least equal, if not greater, than those that chose to go elsewhere for whatever reason.

When is Lacrosse season

Feb to May but there is Fall Lacrosse as well.

Chad Debolt played Lacrosse for ND and walked on football as a LB/Special Teams.

One of southern California's top TE prospects Will Yeatman (6-6, 255, 4.85) from San Diego (CA) Rancho Bernardo has pulled the trigger and he made his decision of what college he will attend known. A sampling of Yeatman's offers are Arizona, ASU, Duke, Maryland, Michigan, Nebraska, UNC and ND.

Rivals.com
Will Yeatman excited to be joining the Notre Dame tradition.
"Yes it is a thrill to commit to Notre Dame. Obviously Notre Dame's program is going in the right direction."

"I will have a LaCrosse scholarship for the first year. That will allow me to continue playing a sport I love. The football scholarship will come in the second year."

"I'm just excited to be part of Notre Dame. I mean, it's Notre Dame."

"I'm now part of a great tradition of academics and athletics that is Notre Dame. I'm excited to see what my future will bring."

Notre Dame wins the services of Yeatman over several suitors.

The Fighting Irish get a player with a tremendous upside. He brings a lot of versatility and athleticism to the table. He could end up several positions for the Irish.

Rivals.com ranks Yeatman as the nation's No. 40 OT prospect for the class of 2006. He also made Rivals.com preseason California Top 100 team and landed as the Golden State's No. 79 prospect at any position.

Not to be worried. Yeatman can play a variety of positions on both sides of the ball. Further, look at him more for depth on the roster. He is a great get and definitely will give us some more versatility down the road.

Yeatman Picks Lacrosse, Notre Dame

By Jeff Baumhower

Date: Dec 14, 2005

Will Yeatman of Rancho Bernardo high school (Poway, Calif.) had to decide which scholarship he was going to accept. A football scholarship would have taken him to Maryland and a lacrosse scholarship sends him to Notre Dame. This afternoon Yeatman called Notre Dame lacrosse coach Kevin Corrigan to inform him that he’d like to be apart of the Irish lacrosse program at least for a year.

“I’m excited to be part of he program,” Will Yeatman said of his decision to come to Notre Dame. “I committed to coach Corrigan.

It’s funny I haven’t even talked to coach Weis yet. I’m going to call him in a little bit. He’ll probably read your article before I even talk to him.

“The first year it’s a lacrosse scholarship. I committed to the lacrosse coach because it’s his money and he recruited me, so I thought it was important to talk to him first.

“He was very, very excited,” Yeatman said of coach Corrigan’s reaction. “He said ‘Oh my gosh that’s awesome. It’s a great thing for the program.’ I was excited that he said that.

“I’ve really always wanted to see how I would compete at the Division I college lacrosse level. That’s why I’m really excited about the situation that I’m going into at Notre Dame, with the lacrosse scholarship in my first year.

“I will be playing football my first year. I won’t be playing in any games, but I will be able to practice with the team. My second year, it will be a football scholarship.

“Football is in the fall and lacrosse is in the spring,” Yeatman explained. “I’ll work out with the football team this summer and fall. Once spring comes, I’ll only be playing lacrosse.

I just looked over our commit list on rivals and Will Yeatman is no longer listed as an ND commit. Hopefully its just a mistake...

This is probably because he's coming on a lacrosse scholarship this year. He'll have a football scholarship next year.

yeah I thought that also, but when I looked at the list of TE's (he's 39th) it no longer had ND listed. But yeah its probably because he's coming on a Lacrosse scholarship

Bingo. He doesn't count towards football. They just won't list him or they will with an asterisk.

hurts us a bit in the team rankings, we'd probably bump Georgia for the 3rd spot if Yeatman was included..

I'll think we'll bump them anyway when it's all said and done. That's just my opinion though.
