Only Northwestern is higher in football.

The 42% at Florida will change under Urban Meyer. That will get way higher.

Yes I did. did not see second page.

Virginia is a bit of a surprise to me. Texas and UTEP at 34%. Nice.

Why is BYU so low? Is that because of the mission work?

"Graduation rate" - What does Graduation rate mean? Graduation in 4 years? Graduation in 5 years? Graduation eventually? Does it count transfers, dropouts, fail outs, etc?

From the report page 3, paragraph 4, emphasis added:

NCAA statistics were used in the study. ... The Institute reviewed 1997-1998 graduation (6-year) rates, with a four-year class average (freshman classes of 1995-95, 1995-96, 1996-97 and 1997-98). ...

The report also notes that they think it's unfair for schools to be penalized for students in good academic standing that transfer and receive a degree at another institution.

I do feel that it's unfair to be penalized for somebody transferring. How about OSU? 58% for the whole student body?!! There ain't that many people transferring. Texas isn't even sniffing 40%. So do you actually go to school for an education nowadays? It appears that with most schools, that's not the case.

There is a difference between bringing in the underqualified and shuffling them through classes to keep them eligible until they flunk out and students that are academically eligible but opt for another school for PT or a change of major, or family/home circumstances.

There was an ND underclassman 8 or 10 year ago that had a family tragedy and moved back home to be with his family while he went to college. ND and the head coach provided assistance in making the transition. The young man went on to play well and got his degree at the second institution. He would count as a penalty today although academic weren't the issue.

ND will probably take a hit over the number of transfers that took place after the coaching change. One individual left saying he was tired of football then transferred to another college to play Div 1 football.

Yes. BYUs low numbers here don't reflect the mission work that is required before students receive their degree.
