This is from hobbs at ndnation.

Mike Farrell was on and he stated;

"As far as next year from what I understand there are a couple of 2007 kids that are top, top football players including a top OL from the midwest who are ready to commit to ND, or have already committed to ND but are not ready to say it publicly".

Farrell went on to point out that ND is now at the Miami and USC level where big time recruits commit to you early then announce at a later date. Farrell said that USC had a couple of verbals back in the summer from top kids who still haven't went public.

Farrell also stated that he felt that Mr. Wenger and Mr. Reuland were already in the ND fold, and in Wenger's case his HS (STA) has a policy whereby kids aren't allowed to announce during the season. [If true interesting policy]. He also stated that he thought Toryan Smith was down to Alabama & ND with ND leading.

Farrell said he underestimated Weis when he was hired because he didn't know if he got "it" (recruiting). He now calls him calls him a tireless recruiter, in the Carroll class, who has shown that he will personally go anywhere and recruit anyone if he thinks they fit into ND.

Farrell also expected Weis to go the Pete Carroll route and play a lot of his freshmen early next year so as to enhance the appeal of ND to 07 recruits who will see that if they go to ND they can play right away.

[Note - IIRC 10 out of ND's 15 freshman saw action this year so there trend has already been established].

Finally Weis was also out in Colorado yesterday or the day before looking at some Juniors.

Very interesting. Oglesby in the fold already?

Man, I'm telling you. This is going to scary how good this program is going to be.

Carroll brought SC back by recruiting the best of the best. Weis is going to do just that.

He loves the hunt, the sale, the competition. Being on the road, most coaches hate it. Not our guy.

Amazing, but I'm not surprised. I've learned over the course of the season to not be surprised by anything this progam has done. The staff is amazing and has brought out things in these kids that the previous regime could only daydream about.

If you though opposing schools and the media hated us before, I think it is only going to get 100x worse.

I'll second all of this. Recruiting is an ART and Weis has learned it faster than anyone could have thought possible. I just hope he holds on to his staff for a couple of years--They are necessary to the success of the program. As the success comes so will the offers to the assistants. As through as he is, I am sure Weis has some names in his pockets if that happens. Remember how quickly Vaas came on board.

his staff will remain largely intact until the team reaches the top. these guys are smart enough to see that sticking with weis for a few years will put a national championship ring on their finger. after that, there will be defections.

I sure hope you're right but when they start giving awards to his assistants(Haywood-and he has already says he wants to be a head coach) It wont be long before the feelers start.

This staff will be intact until they win one. Unless someone gets an offer they just can't refuse, I think they'll see it through.

The only young bucks are Haywood and Polian. The other guys aren't exactly spring chickens anymore. Food for thought.
