Leadership is one thing, but a bench-warmer QB who guarantees a W here just loses credibility with the team. Insert eye-rolling by the upper-classmen.

I think Wittek really out-kicked his coverage with his teammates on this one.

If there was ANY chance that Notre Dame was going to get ahead of themselves and begin to over look USC, if ever so slightly, Wittek just guaranteed that won't happen. Perhaps he should shut his mouth. No one expects him to come out and say "yeah we're gonna crushed" but something like "they're a tough opponent and they're #1 but we're not just going to roll over for them, we're going to play tough for 4 quarters and defend our home turf" sounds better than "we're going to win this ballgame." I hope he gets planted in the turf.

I agree. The best thing to happen is this punk talking trash. USC is the team I hate the most simply because of Lame Kiffin. It would be devastating to lose to this douche and cost us a chance at a national title.

Our team will be ready for USC! I think we will be the team that is focused and hungry. I think we control the lines of scrimmage and punch them in the mouth for four quarters. We need to bring our A game and the coaches and team captains will make sure our players are focused! Go Irish!

I'm with you guys, if the game was being played by the fans, I would definitely be scared the way everyone is talking.

Kelly won't let these guys look ahead too much. It's human nature to do so a little bit and they will, but only in the sense that a great opportunity is available to them IF they take care of USC first.

I have faith in this team and this staff.

Go Irish, go get what you want, kick USC's a$$.

I see tons of fans thinking about the Championship game, but I think that this game being an away will help with that. I can't imagine the kind of pressure this would create if this was a home game. Brian Kelly has this team ready to play and all they talked about when being interviewed was USC.
I'm with some of you that has to see it to believe it, when it comes to Barkley. I wouldn't put it past Kiffin to make his injury worse than it is and I'm sure the coaching staff has the same kind of feeling. Kiffin is gone after this year whether they win this game or not, Haden's vote of confidence is more for recruiting purposes.

Whatever you want to do re. projecting forward to the national championship is fine by me. BUT, just remember that $hit happens on game day and with an opponent like USC there is no sure thing. If this game unexpectedly goes the wrong way, have the class not to turn on the players/coaches who have already surpassed our wildest preseason expectations.

I am personally confident that Notre Dame gets it done but there is no sure thing and those folks who are discounting USC had better not come on here and talk $hit about the team if the unexpected goes down.

I keep telling myself this over and over. But, no matter how low I keep my expectations for this game, I will be puking if the unexpected goes down. It's totally different, at least for me, from OU. I was more mentally prepared for a loss there for some reason tbh.

God, I almost just want to close my eyes and wake up Sunday ... almost.

Any ND fan who does not have butterflies in their stomach during the few minutes before kickoff Saturday is either drunk, a fool, or not a real fan. This is without a doubt the biggest game Notre Dame has played in 19 years, maybe more. We have waited so long for this, it is like Christmas when I was a kid x 10. I just wish I could peek under the tree when my folks aren't looking.
