Too bad that Roncalli has to travel to Jasper, or I would have went to the game. Still hunting for a boxscore.

Looks like Schmidt ran for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns. No word on carries. This came froms someone that listened to the game on the radio.

hmmm so is Schmidt more lookin at the RB or FB role at ND? I thought I heard he was more a FB lean coming here but his stats are pretty impressive.

Agreed, but he'll have a better shot at fullback with Walker, Aldridge, Prince at the RB slot.

What a great "problem" for C-dub!

He had a 155 yards on 33 carries. I also think I read Aldridge had 4 yards on 12 carries. Not good. I hope they put 9 in the box or something.

Interesting, I've been wondering if he's a LB candidate considering size, ability, need, the depth at FB, TE, and LB, and the paucity of LB visits. I've read nothing to indicate so, just my thought.

Well, some posts on the Gridion Digest suggested he has been told he'll play FB/TE for the Irish. I found the TE part interesting.

Yeah, I can see the TE possibility. I can see him as more of an H-back as a FB/TE hybrid. They can motion him in and out of the backfield to block, run or run routes. Move him around a bit to create mismatches. I can also see a kid like that getting some TB reps in a jumbo package or as a big back in a single back set. Once again, he can motion to empty out the backfield and try to get him singled on a linebacker.

I like Schmidt as a RB/FB to go with Schwapp.

If things fall into place the way we hope, I'm not sure ND will need another tight end.

One size alone, he would be a LB candidate if he wanted to move to that position. He definitely has the size and speed for it and he is a punishing runner... he loves to run people over.

Could be a good fit.

I love guys like this. He could play 3 or 4 positions and that ablilty will get him on the field faster.

I can picture him as a Hawk type LB or a TE who can run over people. God, the possibilities are enormous!
