Secede

I brought this up in the President thread but as more info has come in I figured I'd give it its own thread. If you missed the link earlier: Secession petitions filed in 20 states | The Lookout - Yahoo! News

Well, as many would have guessed, Texas became the first state to reach the 25,000 votes that it requires for the government to consider it worthy of a response. Texas Petition to Secede Reaches Threshold for Obama Comment - ABC News

While I believe that this will amount to nothing and is only being done to show dissatisfaction with the re-election of Obama, I find it interesting. Any thoughts on this?

Yah so lets jam the presidents inbox with stupid crap like this instead of getting back to work and fixing everything.

The response should be a simple "No." Did Rick Perry sign it since he brought up secession a few years ago?

The stupidity out there is alarming.

I say good for them. If everyone in Texas wants to become their own union let them. I mean our government has taken away enough our rights. It's about time someone(s) stand up. Even though i see nothing coming from this at least some people aren't scared to stand up and say what they believe.

What rights were taken away from us?

After all boys and girls, that's what the Constitution was written for. No?

Wanting to secede from our great union because you don't like that the popular vote and the electoral vote fairly decided a president you don't like is cowardly.

Frankly, I think it is the exact opposite of what our country is suppose to be about. It's simply unpatriotic in the exact definition of the word.

If some state wants to leave our country then I say GO. We don't need you if you are going to bail on the rest of us as soon as things don't go your way. Don't ask us for our help when the next hurricane comes, or when you can't protect yourselves from attack or you don't have enough tax revenue to properly outfit schools and hospitals.

Get *ucked, if you ask me.

But that's their right, if they want to leave... I say good for them... It would rejuvenate our Constitution.

What the Hell does that even mean. The Constitution is a document, it can't be rejuvenated.

As to good for them. It is like loosing a game and taking your ball home crying because you lost. All it does is make you a big fat little bitch. That is the problem with our society now a days. **** doesn't go their way and they act like this. How about you go back and talk to the people who served during WW II and ask them how they solved problems and how they fixed issues and the spirit that they embody. Perseverance and we are in this through thick and thin are going away and that is the problem with our society. I say let the ****ers go because we will be better off without them.

I agree. A lot of those states bring in more federal money than they pay too. Don't let the door hit you in the *** when you leave. We have no room for traitors in our country.

Nothing will happen. In fact. it happens every day. Go to the White House, there have been protesters there every day for years.

I'd take that response as you never protested anything. In fact if you do protest in a large enough group you get put in jail. I would know i spent 3 days in jail for protesting in a group larger then 15. It was a peaceful protest, signs and singing. We all got arrested for inciting a riot.

Fact is most people are soft belly's that wouldn't stand up for anything they believe in because they're scared of what they'd lose. That is exactly what the our great gov't wants from all of us is to live in fear.
