I really think he is trying to be an unbiased commentator. I think he is worried that if he says anything pro ND, people will call him an ND homer and yadda yadda yadda.

Agreed. However, I'm tired of hearing how much fun this is.

I typically think Mayock does a nice job. Found him a little annoying today. Maybe it's because this game was taking 5 years off my life while he kept saying how fun it was.

I hate Mayock more than the transvestite mannequin that's usually there.

He's pretty good at calling pro games, such a dink with ND.

At least Hammond's just creepy.

e's an unbiased observer and that was a fun game for them. He's a great objective analyst and he's spot on in all his statements. I love having him and it just seems like some of you are whining over nothing.

I agree, I have the utmost respect for Mike Mayock as a color commentator and especially as a Draft Analyst

I would have to disagree. Any time ND did anything good he was calling for a review. Sometimes he was right sometimes he wasn't. But on the flip side he wasn't calling for reviews of pitts plays. He was cheering for them if you ask me. I will give him credit though he did balance it better in OT though.

Lately I watch the game on NBC but mute it, and listen to the game on my SIRIUS XM. All ND games are played on the Catholic Channel.

If you guys want an ND Homer in the booth push mute. I want gusy who know football and call the game as they see it. This is why you bitch about Herbstriet, not because he is bad, but because he says things you do not want to hear. That is Mayock's job. Name 5 guys better, i'll wait?

This reminds me of the bitching against Collingworth years ago. Mayock was right. Pitt out played us all day and therefore an honest observer would have, of necessity, said more positive things about Pitt.
He is clearly the best we have had since Collingworth.

I'm glad it's not just me, I usually like Mayock but found myself yelling STFU at the TV several times today.

Sean McDonough is the best in the business as far as I'm concerned. Football or basketball, I like to hear him call a game.

Any time? That's so disingenuous it hurts. The fumble was a fumble, there was a phantom pass interference, and Pitt took it to us most of the day. He called the DD fumble right after he observed it, and he said the same when Golston's play was reviewed. He correctly called bullshit on the pass interference. He's objective and the idea that he favors either team is ridiculous. Pitt played much better, therefore there was more room for compliments.

If he wasn't bias why did he not react to the no call pass interference during the game? By rule it was interference. Would most officials let it slide yes but most would have called some of the beating taken place. I understand Pitt had more to compliment and rightfully so. I was referring to any time we ran down the sidelines he wanted a review to see if we stepped out early, or if a pass hit the ground, or a possible knee down. It just seemed like he was very critical of ND but not of Pitt. Was it a bias view possibly but it is the way I took it. I will be watching next week on mute.

I don't see why everyone thought he was rooting. He was his typical self. He did, I thought, a good job as always.

He made comments about one team that played probably their best game of the year, and comments about another who played one of their worst. What? After Mayock had watched us all year, did you expect him to be really complimentary of the team we put on the field today?

I think some are just being a bit touchy.

my opinion is mayock true colors are starting to come out. its easy to come across unbiased when ND was sucking it up the past few years. now that they are winning his BC alum ties is starting to show. winning always increases the hate against ND

Why are you so confrontational all the time? You can have "gusy" or whomever your trying to summon. That's fine.

No one is calling for a "homer".... just someone who is impartial. Maycock was swinging off off of the the Pitt HC's short hairs all night long and I think that Dan Hicks was like, WTF is this all about.

I thought Hicks was solid....gave accurate info and drowned out Maycock which was a good thing this game.

Years ago Tom Pagna was doing color on ND and was calling the Oregon State game. Before each snap he would call the play NDwas going to run and they did run it. Of course, O.S. knew what the play was also, and had about nine players there to stop the play. The result was we were pounded and lost. And Tom Pagna was replaced. It never occurred to Davies that if the color commentator knew the play based upon personnel and formation, perhaps their defensive coordinator did also.
Instead of firing the color coomentator on the radio, perhaps he should have studied the offensive coordinator's play calling.
Moral: perhaps it's us, not them. Leave Mayock alone, play better.
