This is easy, Alabama. Two of the greatest college programs ever.
I would love to duplicate the 1973 Sugar Bowl.
Tulane Stadium
Ara vs. Bear Bryant
Irish defense suffocates the Bama running game in the first half.
Bama's defense was also up to the challenge.
Al Hunter returns a KO for a TD.
Game in balance late in the 4th. Irish backed up deep in the shadows of their own goal post. Ara surprises everyone by spurning a run and calls calls a deep out pattern. QB Tommy Clements lays it out there for a 1st down which essentially wrapped up the NC for the Irish.
Oh no I would LOVE to play Georgia. Of those three you mentioned they'd be the easiest to beat I think. Their defense is a paper tiger and only looked impressive against Florida because Florida really blew it. Aaron Murray is a sunshine Superman who can't seem to win the big games. And Mark Richt almost always gets outcoached in the bigger games. I have zero respect for UGA as they have a schedule that almost makes Oregon's and Alabama's look tough by comparison.I'd play any of them in the big championship, but...if I had to choose:
1. Kansas State - One, because they've kind of been a surprise this season as we have, it's kind of a feel good year for them. Second, it would shut the SEC out of the national championship after last year's BS.
2. Alabama - Just because if we upset an unbeaten Alabama team it would be excellent to see the media fallout.
3. Oregon - I think our defense could tire in the 4th trying to stop that offense all game, but who knows. I'll face whoever is in the championship, Oregon included.
4. Darkhorse canidate - Georgia/LSU/Florida - If any of these one loss teams make it in I would feel pretty good about our chances. Georgia is probably the tougher of the two, but aside from the Florida game this year Richt seems to blow it a lot. Florida is pretty strong defensively, but I don't think their offense would be good enough to score often on our defense. Likewise LSU has a good defense, but not much going on offensively.
Was there for that one. Was also at the 13-11 Orange Bowl victory over Alabama a year later.
I'm jealous.
"My dad had the call of the game on a record that I have with me in my apartment at the moment.
It would be rather touchy though over Christmas since we would be traveling to spend time with my sister and her family...and she lives in Tuscaloosa.
Still, we would not have to watch the game in Tuscaloosa with them, so that is a plus, haha."
You need to get that onto an electronic file and post it on here Would love tio hear it.
Alabama, pure and simple. The SEC has the last 7 NC's. If we are successful in the NC hunt this year I don't want to hear from anyone statements like this:
If they hadn't made that bad call in the SEC Championship game then Georgia wouldn't have won. So you were lucky you didn't have to play Alabama. Because the SEC would have won again."
So if we play Alabama and win then that ceases all that BS.
According to Spurrier, we shouldn't want to play 'Bama, as he says they can beat NFL Teams.
Steve Spurrier: Alabama could beat 'couple' NFL teams - NFL.com
The SEC has won the last SIX NCs not the last seven. Although at this rate, everyone is already handing the NC to Bama. IF Bama wins out and then win the National Title, I don't know what can be done to influence anyone to look beyond the SEC to find quality football.
No matter the truth being that the Tide have played nobody of substance over the last three years outside of LSU and Auburn. Particularly this year, with TENN, MISSOURI and AUBURN being 1-15 going into this weekend, with MISSOURI playing TENN, and AUBURN playing UGA. So those three teams will be a COMBINED 2-17 in SEC play, and yet ALABAMA played a "loaded" schedule??
HA!
Maybe one of Spurrier's teams from WAS, but I don't think that Steve Superior should be speaking about the NFL, as he does not know how to beat anyone in the NFL, anyway...and sadly, neither did Lou. But at least he never makes stupid proclamations like this.
