Who cares - it's football season!

I live in Chicago. No WS since 1917. Football is on hold right now, my friend.

This has taken a lot of the sting out of the SC game. Timing was perfect.

No WS since 1917.

1917?

I have vague memories of getting smacked in the back of the head by Sister Helena in 8th grade math when caught listening to exploits of Fox and Aparicio in Game One on my state of the art transistor radio.

I guess you Chitown guys don't recognize 1919 either as a WS.

Say it ain't so.

The last victorious World Series.

Getting there and losing is like kissing your sister.

And Cub fans.

That's a no brainer response from someone whose baseball team was out of the race by Memorial Day...

Pale Hos in 5.

I couldn't be happier for Ozzie Guien. I was at the game against the Yankees way back when he tore his knee up big time in '92. I remember it was April, as we roadtripped from SoBe to the bleachers and two of my roommates were dancing around half naked in the stands at the 7th Inning stretch....It was about 30 degrees.....We were then 'escorted' to the holding pen in New Comiskie and were let go an hour later, as the guards found out that we were Domers....

This is a response from someone who cares less about baseball and it's 162, too damn long, game season.

The only thing that matters during football season is football and oh yeah - hockey.

Not in Chicago, pal.

I wish you guys could be in this town right now. Absolutely nuts.

Hockey blows hard....worse than the NBA. I don't know 5 people that care about the NHL.

Thank you D-Rays for beating the Indians in September.

The White Sox have a "Play Like A Champion Today" sign they bring with them on the road. Seems to be working with a 3-0 lead. One more win and I'll have the championship I've wanted most as a fan.

Morgan Ensberg (SC) made Brad Lidge (ND) wear an SC sweatshirt as part of a bet from the game. Since Lidge wore the SC gear, he gave up home runs to Pujols and Podednik. Ensberg told him to take the sweatshirt off.

The Notre Dame Spirit is assisting the Sox to a World Series. Awesome.

Now can Shoeless Joe get out of that cornfield and into The Hall where he belongs?

Absolutely.

Today is a great day. I'm running on four hours sleep and a Bartley Webb sized hangover.

Chicago is completely upside down right now. I'm not sure I can explain it. I've waited my whole life for this day. This isn't New York where the Yankees win every year. We, as a city, waited 88 years for this day. There are some Cub fans crying, but who the hell cares about that. I took the high road in 2003 and cheered for them only to see them choke and blame it on some guy in the stands.

A couple of National Titles for ND and a (gulp) Stanley Cup are all that is left to see in my lifetime.

Maybe another Bears Super Bowl, but I'm not holding my breath. Not enough candles in the Grotto.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: THE WORLD CAPITAL OF BASEBALL.

(Thank you, God.)

If Pete Rose is getting into baseball's good graces, let's get Joe Jackson back in there too since he was found INNOCENT of any wrong doing and they proved NOTHING to prove he wasn't playing on the level. Look at the stats.
They don't lie.

Pete Rose was GUILTY and the proof was everywhere to be found. Then he LIED for almost 20 years before coming clean and admitting he was guilty.

Both deserve the HOF as players, but Rose should never be allowed back in the game. And one doesn't deserve it more than the other.

How do the fans let Uribe(sp?) catch that foul ball in the ninth? One fan totally backed off. No way Uribe catches that ball in Yankee stadium, Boston, or Chicago. Thats fan territory, they gotta do their part and not let Uribe catch that ball.

Also thought it was funny that Joe Buck mentioned how great it was for the southside, and started mentioning all these ethnic goups(irish, italian, polish, etc) I'm not from Chicago but isn't the Southside mostly made up of African Americans, thought it was strange he never mention them.

It was a great series though. Probably the closest sweep ever. Hope the Yanks sign Konerko in the offseason, he'd fit in nicely at first for us.....

Congrats to the White Sox from this humbled Yankee fan. I was glad to see that Contreras and Hernandez (esp. the former) were working out for you.

Oh, there's no question. that's why winning this now was important.

That team will be good for years to come. I love that Moneyball makeup.

I admired Charlie Hustle as a player but have nothing but disdain for Charlie The Hustler. Bart Giamatti had the proof and Rose knew it. Rose negotiated with Giamatti and AGREED to the terms of his banishment.

At The Stadium Uribe would have required 20 stitches.

Perhaps Joe Buck mentioned the irish, italian, polish, etc. to cover Southside minority groups. He probably left the African Americans to Fisher DeBerry whose doing so well with that topic.

"Yanks sign Konerko" Can he pitch and stay off the DL?

"humbled Yankee fan" sounds like an oxymoron. We fans of the greatest franchise in baseball history can give credit where credit's due ('cepting Boston of course) but humble? That would be like Jigga promoting "Bend but don't break".

With Contreras and Hernandez NY wins it all. Hell with Rocket and Pettite NY wins several in a row. Jon Lieber and Estaban Loiaza would have been more help than Brown, Pavano, and Wright for a lot less $$$. Wang, Chacon, and Small saved the season but only because his first choices Brown, Pavano, and Wright put it in a tailspin. Can somebody explain why Cashman was re-signed with the pitchers he's let get away or traded in recent years?

This is as likely as Konerko signing with the Yankees.

I employ the Alvin Mack ESU theory of defense: "Kill EVERYbody."

I work and live in Schaumburg.

Keep the nudity to a minimum so my property value doesn't drop.

I'm still hungover.
