So at what age is "consensual sex with a minor permissible? Or, perhaps, what age difference do you consider unacceptable?
Maybe we should accept all consensual sex and just crank up the welfare system to support the resulting pregnancies from these CHILDREN, since they can control their pregnancies.

I don't care what anyone says a 16 or 17 yr old know what they are doing. These kids now days are much more advanced then they used to be. With that being said when my daughter is running around with her friends at 16 i want her to make a great decision. And with the all the fact I.D.s anymore it is hard to know what age some really is.

A guy i used to work with went to a bar and met this girl. Needless to say they went home and all that good jazz. Her parents got worried when she didnt come home and went to look for her. When they found her car at this dudes house they knocked on the door and he answered. Long story short the pressed charges and he was almost charged with rape and other chareges. He didn't have to register as a sex offender due to his friends seeing her ID. But the police could never find the ID she finally admitted that she had a fake ID.

I think the point I'm trying to get at is that the criminal justice system should take a serious look at how they classify and name crimes, and about how the details of these accusations are handled by the media. Because it seems to me that the court of public opinions has already given the guilty verdict based simply on the fact that there will be an investigation, and that to me is just plain wrong.

I agree with this generally. We should not use the term rape lightly, and I am not sure its fitting in these situations since it is consensual and society condones these kids running in the same social circles. Maybe it should be called something like Class II Sex with a Minor, if one person is an adult but the minor is within 3 years. More than 3 years and you are really pushing it.

Still, as adult as 15 yo might seem in some situations they are not. The law needs to protect them both from themselves and from the guys who would prowl for them. Older guys need to know that they are totally off limits.

I bet the second alleged victim came forward because those kind of stories are hard to keep secret once the first story breaks.
