Missing the Point
Missing the Point
Well, I'm just here to say how ironic it was for Weis to be complaining about a fumble on the one yard line. Perhaps he wanted to throw a waterbottle, but that would actually involve him expending energy.
Seriously, you all miss the point about this game.
Michigan State blowing leads deep in the 4th quarter is nothing new. Last year, they had a 17 point lead halfway into the 4th quarter at Ann Arbor and ended up LOSING the game in OT. The game was won when Drew Stanton was knocked out of the game. The reason why Notre Dame lost is because they didn't attack Stanton. One of the reasons why MSU won is because they attacked Quinn, at least in the first three quarters. Stanton has a high risk/high reward style. Moving around a lot looking for receivers makes him vulnerable to crushing hits. I'm not saying Notre Dame should have tried to injure Stanton, but they should have come up with something better than ONE sack. The game was lost because of poor defensive strategy. Having an arrogant Weis blaming others for the loss makes him look more like beginners luck (ie Tyrone Willingham). What a loser. And there’s nothing rewarding about losing to a team that lost to BOTH Rutgers and Penn St. last year.
Also, stop with all this bull about how announcers are biased against Notre Dame. Did you hear the announcers from NBC? They are some of the most pro-ND announcers ever, presumably because they have rights to all ND home games. And did you hear Lee Corso say "Pittsburgh and Michigan, two overrated teams," as if we're like 0-3 Pitt. And what about Gameday, which now has LOU HOLTZ as one of the commentators.
