Y'know, I almost don't even care that we lost. That comeback was incredible, and I figured someone was going to trip us up at some point. Might as well get it out of the way early.

Good fight, boys. You never gave up.

Ditto and you are damn skippy Vince.

ND is playing with passion and heart and with a good solid plan. The wins have been a result of good coaching and the players never giving up.

After the U of M game a thread on this site pondered how Brady Q might respond if we were losing at half. I think he (and the entire team) showed us tonight. They played with heart and dignity and poise and skill - they just came up short. I am extremely dissappointed for our team, but I also continue to be extremely encouraged.

Charlie Weis has us headed in the right dierction.

Go Irish, Beat Huskies!

the good news will be if we can beat Purdue...i think realistically we will lose to SC and have a great possibility of winning out, we could finish 10-2 wich is a lot better than I thought...cant wait till next week, i am going to have to miss it live, good thing i have Tivo(greatest invention ever)

Even when we were down by 21, I never felt like we were out of it. Today was a first for me, I usually bash a coach when a team of mine loses, but how can u bash Weis after this game.

Quinn threw like 15 or so straight passes in the 3rd. I know we were down by 21 and then 14, but still what coach does that. I'm soo impressed with Weis, I say we sign the guy to a lifetime contract lol...

You know I have had some time to think about this post. I guess some of it was the fact that I was pretty bitter about the loss, and it was just a knee jerk reaction. So I have had the night to think about it, being that I am a night nurse, and the hospital was pretty quiet. I agree with those who say that it isn't always about winning the NC. It is about getting better, being able to recruit more talent. This is f*(king Notre Dame, guys should be begging to play on this team. Now this year a 10-2 record is what we should expect at the most. I don't see any way this team will beat SC, I don't think any team will beat SC. We just need to get some people in here, and NO DB's that are 5'10". We need some 6'2" guys to match up. So sorry for the negativity.

I wouldn't feel too bad about your original post.

I happen to think we can beat anyone on our schedule. I continue to be very encouraged - our team is tough.

Nobody wanted to lose, so it was a let down for us all. But the Irish and Charlie showed us something. A never die attitude. And that's exciting, a Willingham or Davie team would have lost that game by 4 TD's. With the talent starting to line up to play for Charlie, How cant we all be excited. This season is just the beginning of something special!

Missing the Point

Missing the Point

Well, I'm just here to say how ironic it was for Weis to be complaining about a fumble on the one yard line. Perhaps he wanted to throw a waterbottle, but that would actually involve him expending energy.

Seriously, you all miss the point about this game.

Michigan State blowing leads deep in the 4th quarter is nothing new. Last year, they had a 17 point lead halfway into the 4th quarter at Ann Arbor and ended up LOSING the game in OT. The game was won when Drew Stanton was knocked out of the game. The reason why Notre Dame lost is because they didn't attack Stanton. One of the reasons why MSU won is because they attacked Quinn, at least in the first three quarters. Stanton has a high risk/high reward style. Moving around a lot looking for receivers makes him vulnerable to crushing hits. I'm not saying Notre Dame should have tried to injure Stanton, but they should have come up with something better than ONE sack. The game was lost because of poor defensive strategy. Having an arrogant Weis blaming others for the loss makes him look more like beginners luck (ie Tyrone Willingham). What a loser. And there’s nothing rewarding about losing to a team that lost to BOTH Rutgers and Penn St. last year.

Also, stop with all this bull about how announcers are biased against Notre Dame. Did you hear the announcers from NBC? They are some of the most pro-ND announcers ever, presumably because they have rights to all ND home games. And did you hear Lee Corso say "Pittsburgh and Michigan, two overrated teams," as if we're like 0-3 Pitt. And what about Gameday, which now has LOU HOLTZ as one of the commentators.

...because of course MICHIGAN fans would NEVER complain about that.

But, see, while Michigan fans fill up entire threads talking about "bad" calls (and by "bad," you mean calls that the refs got right through the miracle of instant replay but which happened to go against Michigan), we fill up entire threads talking about all of Notre Dame's shortcomings, the things that we did wrong that we had 100% control over. There are so many mistakes Notre Dame made. If we had played better, then the fumble-call at the goal-line wouldn't have mattered.

See, if Michigan was truly so good, they would've played better in the first half of the game and taken a sizable lead so that their fate wouldn't rest on a goal-line fumble. Same goes for Notre Dame.

Both last week and this week, the better team won. I can deal with that. Can you?

Damn right I am. We made a lot of mistakes on Saturday, but that 21-point comeback was incredible. We got to see Notre Dame at both their absolute worst and their absolute best yesterday, both in the same game. This team now knows what they're capable of and will learn from their mistakes. I'm confident C-Dub will learn from his mistakes as well. (Overrelying on freshman Asaph Schwabb comes to mind.)

I also came into this season with realistic expectations. I knew we were gonna lose to USC and probably get tripped up by a couple of unexpected games. And there we go. The first of the predicatable trip-ups has now occurred. Somewhat disappointing, sure, but not exactly shocking. The glass is half-full, right? :)

Seriously? I'm pretty pissed they lost. Extremely sloppy. I'm not really happy at all.

MSU went conservative on offense and ND got back in it. I'm not sure what they were doing on offense, but it wasn't what they did the first three quarters.

No loss is a good one. Period. The players and staff surely don't have this attitude, so as fans I don't think it's a good idea either. That locker room was emotional after the game according to some recruits who were there. Those guys sure as hell cared.

Why is VictorsValiant even on this web site???????????????

Because Notre Dame Football is no longer relevant...

Michigan is not going to win a NC again this year...even though it really should have taken longer than week 2 to figure that out.

We are now once again competing with them in the recruiting arena...which means in the long run Michigan is probably going to be out of NC contention early in most of the future seasons to come.

Some people who have personal issues of their own can't help themselve from resorting to bashing other people on a personal level...when their team is not as good as they thought they were going to be...hence the "expending energy" comment.

And some UM fans can't accept the fact that they were beaten by their own conferences replay system in which the right call was actually made.

Oh and one last thing...

VV you are missing the point...we no longer care about the Michigan game or even the MSU game. We have moved on to beating Washington and finishing strong the rest of our season.

Amen Batch! VV...stop livin in the past brother. You were complaining about Holtz being on GameDay? If I'm not mistaken, isn't Desmond Howard on there quite a bit too? He's about as insightful and unbiased as say...ummmm...Mark May. These two jerk offs stand by their alma maters and think that their respective schools are the second coming of Christ. Kiss my a$$! Sounds kinda like OL' TREVVY BOY! What is he doing now, working the pump or bagging at the Piggly Wiggly? They suck and frankly so do you.
So why don't you go grab your favorite scUM blanket and your skunk bear pillow, curl up nice and tight, close your little eyes, and dream of what might have been this year for your beloved Wolverines, before the Irish Stomped hell out of your boys! Gotta go. Time to tear up Ty's puppies!

BY BY TY!!!!

I guess you didn't read Weis' press conference -- but then again a Michigan fan struggles to read.
