If we stop the run and force them to throw we will win. I really believe it will be that easy in my opinion

"Simple," yes. "Easy," no.

This'll be a 14-10 grind-it-out slugfest matching up two of the nation's better running games with two of the nation's better front sevens. Can't wait.

So you have no concerns at all moving the ball against MSU defense? Not trolling....just curious your take. MSU D has yet to give up a TD this year - and trying to run the ball plays right into the strength of the D. We have arguably the top pair of cover corners in the country as well which frees up our safeties for blitz and run support.

No matter who they have now, none of them are as good as Kirk Cousins and Jerel Worthy.

No doubt huge losses. Cousins just from a leadership level alone. Maxwell is a better talent (so they say)....but you can't replace a 3 year starter/captain overnight.

Worthy obviously is a big loss as well - Anthony Rashard White is holding his own in the middle right now.....massive human that gets a push. Tyler Hoover has also been a surprise.

Someone else said it....so pumped to see the OL/DL matchups on both sides.....as a former lineman in HS it's my favorite part of the game to watch.

how good has White and Reynolds (DT/NG) been? I saw a little of the CMU game and it seemed like they could run up the middle every now and then... MSU's pass rush is lethal, but I havent been "WOWed" at their rush defense. Not saying they are bad, but I think Purdue may have a better run defense than MSU... Two dominate inside DL (Purdue) is better than 1 stud DE (Gholston) when it comes to the run game. However, this is simply based on what little I saw, so who knows.

Just remember, Boise State may be weaker this year; after looking at the depth charts, our Oline is definitely bigger than theirs... and CMU is ... well, a MAC team.

I think Mike Dantonio learned his lesson about play calling two years ago, we'll be just fine...

MSU's D is better than the Boilers so moving the ball won't be easy. If we can hit on one or two big pass plays then it should open up the run game.

Kelly said the problem with the OL was communication between Golson and Cave about the playcall. That can be fixed, and was probably addressed in practice this week. I expect our run game and blocking to do markedly better than against Perdookie. Cierre Wood coming back only helps.
