Just because DW sucked as an NFL coach doesn't mean he won't be hugely successful at Pitt & every bit CW's equal. Couple of guys named Steve Spurrier & Pete Carroll got run out of the NFL too, but they've enjoyed tremendous success at the college level. And DW does have one thing CW doesn't: meaningful HEAD coaching experience.

Suffices to say I am a sceptic. Every new coach brings in excitement to a program. (Ty brought alot of excitement to ND. ).....I would rather place my bets on a multi Super Bowl ring winner than a "retread" like DW (although Petey Carroll is the ultimate retread turned great story).

The one thing DW does have going for him is it looks like they and Louisville are the only real programs in Big East.

Was at the Pirates/ Reds game in Pissburgh with my son, fiancee, and monster in law. I could not believe how many Irish fans were down there. I know this because I had my ND jersey on and alot of people were coming up to me and giving high fives and gave me and my son a "GO Irish" (my son also had his ND garb on). I must have run into at least 15 people who asked me if I had tickets for the game. I stated "yes", and they also said that they were going. We ( ND NATION ) will represent the Irish in large numbers at this game. I thought that alot of people were going to give me crap for my jersey, but it was the complete opposite. Just being at PNC Park and looking acroos the large parking lot at Heinz Field, gave me goose bumps. THE IRISH ARE COMING! THE IRISH ARE COMING! HELL IS COMING WITH THEM!

Wannstedt will do well at his alma mater. Their recruiting has already seen the benefits.

They are in a recruiting hot bed area and with Penn State down, the sky is the limit.

true...with penn state in their current situation, wannstedt won't have to share as many recruits with an in-state rival. but that situation could change as soon as next year, depending on the season paterno has....cripes, they're at a point now where at his age, his health is a major, ongoing concern. (joe was born on december 21, 1926. assuming they land a decent bowl game this year, he'll be 80 years old by the end of the season.)

i'll GUARANTEE that joe's days are numbered. very soon, there will be a new coach at penn state, and that will have an impact on DW's ability to recruit regionally.
