Actually, I would like to know how everyone is feeling as Sept 3rd rolls around? I am quite anxious and a little nervous...we freaking need to start 1-0. I hope Quinn is lights out, the OL dominates, and a vastly improved secondary due to coaching shows itself off.

Fellow Irish Nation, I can not begin to tell you how pumped I am for the start of the season. Living about an hour away from Pissburgh and frequently driving through the Piss campus because of work, I get goose bumps thinking that it's calm now, but the IRISH ARE COMING!!!! One thing that I thought that you should all know is that when I drove through campus just yesterday, I saw the very "classy" Piss fans/ vendors selling shirts that said, " F-ND". I just laughed, but I did take the opportunity to roll my window down and politely state exactly what I thought of their prestigious university in a loud and slightly obnoxious tone:curse: (of course I did this when the light turned green-- GO IRISH-- to avoid any unnecessary thumpings from the large number of Pitt students who were assembled at this corner:rocket: ). My work peers just kind of slumped in their seats and stated that I have issues:naughty: . Hey, an eye for an eye!! THE IRISH ARE COMING AND THEY WILL BRING HELL WITH THEM!!!!

The off season has been far too long. I became a member of Irish Envy after the Pitt game, so I'm sick and tired of talk and optimism.

It's time for things to manifest themselves on the field. Wins will be the only measuring stick.

I've been thinking about ND football so much, I'm actually having dreams about them. Just a side note, here's a joke a buddy of mine e-mailed me:

(1) What does the average Texas A&M player get on his SATs?

Drool.

(2) What do you get when you put 32 Arkansas cheerleaders in one room?

A full set of teeth.

(3) How do you get a Nebraska cheerleader into your dorm room?

Grease her hips and push.

(4) How do you get a Colorado graduate off your porch?

Pay him for the pizza.

(5) Why do the Texas Tech cheerleaders wear bibs?

To keep the tobacco juice off their uniforms.

(6) Why is the Baylor football team like a possum?

Because they play dead at home and get killed on the road.

(7) What are the longest three years of a Kansas State football player's life?

His freshman year.

(8) How many OU freshmen does it take to change a light bulb?

None. That's a sophomore course.

(9) Where was O.J. headed in the white Bronco?

Waco, Texas. He knew that the police would never look there for a Heisman Trophy winner.

(10) Why did Texas choose orange as their team color?

You can wear it for the game on Saturday, hunting on Sunday and for picking up trash along the highway the rest of the time.

I get a kick out of the Pitt fans thinking Wannestad is their savior. Last I recall he got fired at Miami and at Chicago......Please don't even put him at or near the level of C-Dub.

He is still despised here to this very day. I pity the guy because he followed Ditka. One of the great Cowboy coordinators that fell on his face as a head coach.

I believe he's found his niche at Pitt. They've recruited well to this point.

Rally sons of Notre Dame:
Sing her glory and sound her fame,
Raise her Gold and Blue
And cheer with voices true:
Rah, rah, for Notre Dame
We will fight in ev-ry game,
Strong of heart and true to her name
We will ne'er forget her
And will cheer her ever
Loyal to Notre Dame

Cheer, cheer for old Notre Dame,
Wake up the echoes cheering her name,
Send a volley cheer on high,
Shake down the thunder from the sky.
What though the odds be great or small
Old Notre Dame will win over all,
While her loyal sons are marching
Onward to victory.

They're an outside shot, but Michigan is the team ND will have to race to the wire for Walls.

Urban could wind up getting him too.

Walls will start as a frosh hands down, guaran-damn-teed if he comes to ND.

Just received my Tix via Fed-ex.

Theme of the first ticket (Michigan State) is "ND Stadium: The Early Years." "THE HOUSE THAT ROCK BUILT." We are so back. My superstituous theory is that ND messed with the stadium and Rock was not so happy. I think he is over it now.

I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve.

Just because DW sucked as an NFL coach doesn't mean he won't be hugely successful at Pitt & every bit CW's equal. Couple of guys named Steve Spurrier & Pete Carroll got run out of the NFL too, but they've enjoyed tremendous success at the college level. And DW does have one thing CW doesn't: meaningful HEAD coaching experience.

I actually think Wanny will do well at Pitt. Only thing that would worry me if I were a Pitt fan is how they basically had to beg the guy to come coach. He turned them down the first time, and eventually his wife talked him into taking the job. Not sure if his desire is in the college game.

I do think he'll do well though. He will struggle his first year if he tries to make Pitt a run oriented team. Pitt's strength is clearly the passing game right now with Palko, and Lee. Wanny loves that smashmouth defense and running game. Pitt has no one that scares me running the ball, and the defense stinks...

carroll, yes, but you can't really count spurrier. the analagy is only good for coaches who've made a name in the professional ranks before joining the college level.

there are several examples of mediocre pro coaches who've excelled in the college ranks. a lot fewer examples when they go the other route.
