I'll go with a sleeper choice in the Dodgers, if anyone is willing to take it on at all.

I think the Phillies should fire Manuel. Since they won the world series in 2008, they have regressed every year.

Just about every contract in baseball will be put on revocable waivers in August. The Phils would love to move that contract after extending Hamels. Him clearing waivers is a prerequisite.

This is so true.

tBasically every player is put on waivers in early August; the waiver is revokable. It doesn't tie the team down to anything. If someone claims him and they don't want to trade or let go of the player all they do is revoke the waiver like nothing ever happened (besides placing them on the waiver again is risky- waivers aren't revokable the 2nd time- I think). Even the all-stars on club friendly contracts are put on waivers to gauge interest in them- though nothing would ever come of it really.

The Phillies are obviously open to trading Lee and his massive contract- which is why this makes the news.

If it hasn't happened already, Beckett will soon be on waivers. Straight up trade should go down. Sox will throw in Lackey for good measure.

Its not really Manuels fault as much as GM Ruben Amaro. Just think of the dumb decisions he's made already on muitiple players. If he trades Cliff Lee then its a f*cking joke about how he handled that player's career. Trade for him in midseason (from Cleveland) only to realize that you would rather have Roy Halladay, so you trade Cliff Lee to Seattle. Then after another year (after lee was traded to texas midseason), Amaro realize that in fact it was wrong to trade Cliff Lee so they deal out a huge contract. One and a half years later Amaro is once again is looking to get rid of Cliff Lee. For further proof of Amaro's incompetence look at Hunter Pence. Traded for him in midseason last year, and already got rid of him. Which is fine for a last place team to do, except however Amaro claims to be playing for next season. Why trade one of only 2 position players (Ruiz the other) you have on contract for next year who was actually hitting above their position averages.
