If she had the right to not be discriminated against shouldn't the other team have that right to? Just because you think their belief is stupid or ancient or whatever you want to insert here don't they have the right to believe it? What is the difference between sexual discrimination and and religious discrimination? And before you guys go on a all beliefs should be allowed rant using groups that cause physical harm to others these people did not cause her physical damage or put up any roadblocks to her.

It's also against their religious beliefs (Society of Saint Pius X) to associate with Jews.... would we be discriminating against their religious views if they decided to publicly forfeit the game because a player on the opposing team was a Jewish kid?

Serious question...

I would say if they don't want to play a team because of any reason they shouldn't be forced to. As long as they are not causing harm to anyone in doing so then that is their decision. If they put up enough roadblocks than they will never win. Its their beliefs. I am an electrician. I am not screaming to force Amish to use electricity so I can work on it. It is their decision if I agree with it or not.

We can agree to disagree then. I personally find it wrong for parents to force their children to discriminate others. Be it sexism or anti-semitism, I believe both are wrong on an institutional level. The church that runs their school believes in both.

Again, I want to stress that the school chose to participate in a tournament that allowed girls to play in it. Then once they had to face a team with one, they forfeited, publicly at that. The tournament didn't try to force anything on that team. The team forced their beliefs onto others.

This is really a non issue. One team stuck to their beliefs, and the other broke ground and had a girl on a boys team.

It's a unique situation that can't be compared to anything you guys are trying to debate over.

The only thing that was lost was a possible good championship game. It's over and done with, and one team goes home with their beliefs still intact and the other takes a trophy home.

I will agree sexism and anti-semitism is wrong. I will also agree to disagree on when that is happening and when "rights"have been wronged. Thanks for keeping the discussion cool.

LOL at the team that quit. What a bunch of losers. They were afraid to get beat by a girl. I hope the kids are happy they don't get a chance to compete because of some stupid rule.

The team and it's "bunch of losers" didn't quit. The school had them forfeit because of their school's policy, not because they were afraid to get beat by a girl. Classy to move to call the kids on the team losers. I seriously doubt the kids got to vote whether or not to play. I don't see how that article was so confusing for you.

The antisemitic church they belong to is what is full of losers. The administration & coaches are the ones who are scared.
