You know what we need around here?

Some Oregon fans to beat up on so we'll stop beating up on each other. ;)

(Yes, that includes me. I've re-read some of my posts the past few days, and geez, I've been grumpy.)

Not grumpy, rational.

Yeah. The constant bitching gets tiring. If this team were undefeated right now, some fans would still find something to moan and complain about. "We love our team" is used as a justification for throwing certain players under the bus while their busting their butts for ND. Then, we want to gripe and complain about polls. As long as we win, that will take care of itself. So you haven't been grumpy. I've read your post and there's nothing wrong with what you posted. There's too much whining and bellyaching. I was just exposed to this last year when I sign up for this and Irish Eyes last year. It's pretty sickening at times.

We need some good old fashioned homeristic bashing of someone else. I'm partial to bashing the SEC, but that's because I live in the South and I'm CONSTANTLY barraged by how GREAT the SEC is EVERY friggin day! OK, time for my meds.

Amen, I could go for SEC bashing...just say when.

OK...WHEN!

The SEC is worshipped by college analysts and have 2 teams in the Top 10 of the BCS, only one in the top 5.

The BIg East is widely thought of as the worst BCS conference, yet they also have 2 Teams in the Top 10 of the BCS, both in the Top 5.

The SEC has NO undefeated Teams.

The Big East has 3.

The SEC has 5 teams in the BCS Top 25!
Uh, so does the ACC.

The BIG out of conference win for the SEC was UT over CAL big!

The BIG win for the PAC 10 was USC GIGANTIC over ARKANSAS(you know, the guys that beat Auburn, who beat Florida, who beat Tennessee)

The BIG OOC wins for the BIG 10 were UM over ND, OSU over Texas, UM pounding Vandy(who beat Georgia).

Hmmm, the Cal wins kinda pales in comparison now.

The SEC has proven themselves against NO ONE except each other. Too many people have just been drinking the Kool-Aid and accepting that SEC teams are elite because it's being rammed down our throats. How come every other team has to prove it on the field, but the SEC doesn't?

Oh, and beating each other up in conference doesn't mean you're better than everyone else. It just means your not that much better then your fellow conference members.

And if I have to hear one more friggin time about the SEC "speed" I'm going to hurl. Where was that speed when USC was on the field? Where was it when WVU was on the field? Where was it when a "slow" ND was on the field last year? Where was it when UM was on the field this year?

Thank you for that. Actual on field proof that the SEC is no different then anyone else. The funniest part Auburn is supposed to be so great, yet they got pounded by Wisconsin and who did UT play? Oh yeah, they weren't bowl eligible.

Who was the last good non-SEC team Auburn beat? This isn't rhetorical, it's a real question.

Because they can't play Central Michigan twice.

Yeah. Those directional Michigan schools really pose a challenge.

I'll take the service academies any year. Let these other schools play their MAC, non BCS and I-AA's.

Soon enough, ND adds San Diego State and Nevada. Then the hate will flow.

Funny, all those years ago when UNC was added the program seemed headed in the right direction.

I-A winless when they roll around on the schedule. MAC schools never pose a challenge to Michigan. Not now, not five years ago, not five years from now.

Division I-A should be cut by at least 25% of the teams in it, maybe more.

I'm sticking with Oregon and their craptastic neon puke uniforms. Those ducklings that came around here last year were some of the most ignorant fans I've ever encountered.

If they did that my Golden Knights of UCF would be out. I can't go back to the I-AA days, I just can't! Actually, we played great teams tougher back then, maybe I could go back.

They want I-A paychecks, but they look like I-B on the field. Anyone in Louisiana not named LSU should be relegated to I-AA. The entire Sun Belt conference, pretty much.

I hate SC and I'm glad Oregon State beat them. I was cheering on the Beavers. Dirtbag program.

Maryland beating FSU was awesome. GT beating Duh U was sweet. UGA could have given us a clean sweep, but Urban's Auto Yard pulled it out.

This feels great.

The SEC is a tough conference. I'm just tired of them not really playing anyone outside of conference. They beat up on each other every year, but that doesn't mean they're superior to everyone else. It's funny how last year Alabama was undefeated and barely beat Tennesee 6-3. Everybody trumps the SEC defense, then we lay 41 on Tennessee and WVU came out in the 1st half and blew Georgia's doors off. The defenses aren't that great. The offensive scheme's in some cases are just piss poor, except for maybe Tennessee's. Yes, the SEC has speed on defense, but they have subpar OCs on the sidelines.

RE: Ball State. I was thinking this was intended as a bye week for Michigan. Then the 12th game was added. Not wanting to play after the O$U game, and, I'm quite sure, desiring a highly winable home game, they chose Ball State. I have no idea what other choices there may have been.

As for MAC vs Service Academies, I think it's quaint that you like to play them, but I understand. They are part of your tradition, your football culture. They're kind of like your little brothers. Similar thing with Big Ten-MAC games: they help the region's indiginous football culture. I think cf would be poorer if the bigs only played the bigs.

And props to the MAC for this: at least six different MAC QBs have been NFL starters this year (Big Ben, the newb in Tampa, Frye, What's-his-face in Jacksonville, Batch, and one more).

And if anyone has a problem with that, I got one think to say: Quack! Quack!

Honest question here, would Navy win the MAC?

I say definitely if they still had Hampton at QB, without him, I still like their chances.

This year, I think they might. But I don't think that's the case every year. Some years Toledo, BG, Miami or Northern Illinois for example might have a very strong team.

I agree, and I did mean this year. It'd probably be between Northern Illinois and Navy, I was just trying to imply that for all the crap we will get for playing the academies Navy has been one good, soild football team for a few years now.

No way does Toledo, BGSU or NIU ever beat scUM at home...or anywhere else.

"Gimme" September wins.

Michigan could score 70 on Ball State if they truly wanted to. Perfect time to gain some BCS points.
