Lou Holtz actually made a very good point pertaining to Michigan in "final verdict" - had they won and become bowl eligible, that is 15 extra practices.
The same should apply to ND.
I know everything sucks right now but think about next year. Michigan is done. They are back in class and no practice. ND can practice for the next 2 months and play another game.
No matter how indirect, Id take any edge on a big opponent for next year, early in the season, that I can get!!
I'm assuming that assistant coaches would be left to coach the team. Frankly, I don't what 15 more practices based on schemes that you most likely won't use is going forward.
Besides, I'd prefer the defense to get as far away from Tenuta as possible. Obviously they haven't been taught how to tackle and at times it seems like they don't tackle intentionally. I don't care to see this team spend 15 more practices with Tenuta. Plus, when negative feelings are abound, sometimes the best thing to do is just get away from it all. Do you think these players are really interested in 15 more practices and a shit bowl? Do you think the team's collective heart is going to be into this?
