I meant running behind questionable blocking.

Gotcha. You are right on. They were on second team efforts mostly. Aldridge had a couple runs behind the first team...as did Prince. But let's face it, no other back besides TT has any REAL play time.

I don't know...I kind of liked what I saw from Aldridge last year. Remember, he's a true freshman running back playing for Notre Dame and getting very few opportunities possibly leading him to try too hard to make things happen. This year, after a full season under his belt, I think he will settle down become a little more patient and see the field better. He did show he could run last year and seemed to have some pretty good strenght behind him. He'll turn out to be a very good back for us, trust me.

I agree, Aldridge will be a good back for us. Just hope the offensive line can run block, have a feeling the passing games might take a while to get going. With the new faces at wideout and Q.B..

if we can get some consistent oline play we may be very dangerous

On a similar note, I'm having a hard time with Charlie's philosophy of sticking mainly to one back. I know that a lot of backs get better as the game wears on, and I'm not against staying a while with the hot hand. But the Bears had a lot of success with Benson wearing em' down before Jones came in to run by em'. Don't we have the horses to do the same?

I think Charlie will work with whatever he has. If he has a bunch of good backs, I don't think he'll have a problem working them in. one back may get the most carries consistently, but I'd guess others will get a fair amount of PT.

I think the Bears were retarded about their RB situation, T Jones would be runnin for more than 5 yards a pop then he'd put in Bensen and he'd fumble, get hurt or have one decent run and leave Jones on the sideline they don't know how to use them the right way. Bensen was good at times, but not good enough to take T Jones out of the game everytime he got hot. I like Charlies system. James Aldridge #1 with armando coming in using him in different sets and situations as a change of pace, while also bringing in YES Robert Hughes and let him pound about 5 runs a game, that boy is not redshirting. Prince looks quick but didnt show me much last year. The one thing i'm sure of is Travis Thomas goin back to RB, we have so much talent there, Hughes is the pounder, Armando the scat while tough , and Aldridge be the all around #1 back. T. Thomas has a year of LB under his belt so if he improves during the spring there leave em' there. Just my two cents

I think we are going to see Aldridge and Hughes as the main backs with Allen as a Reggie Bush type player where you put him in mutliple positions. Golden Tate could be added in the mix too because he played like every position but punter in HS.

Um, Golden Tate was the punter for his high school team, and had a long of 63 yards his Sr. season. CW has said that he'll likely be listed on the depth chart as the back-up punter.

Really? I wasn't aware of that. I was being sarcastic I knew he played WR,RB, and DB in HS. All I'm saying is he's very versatile and he will probably see the field this year.

Yep, don't forget about PR, KR, and throwing TD passes as a HB ala Ladainian Tomlinson.

Although his initial primary position at ND will be WR.
