why is it every black media guy wants to bash notre dame and say that weis should be fired because willingham had almost the same record when he was fired? did willingham go to 2 bcs games? did willingham win national coach of the year? did willingham have great recruiting classes? NO!!!!!!!!!! so what the hell is the problem with every black commentator on espn? ok i wont say every because thats grouping people and i cant stand that but most of the ones i have seen or heard from always bring up willingham. mark may, kevin blackistone, the guy from the detroit press who is always on first and ten, the 2 stews are all guilty of this. i hate to think that they truly feel in thier hearts that willingham shouldnt have been fired. he didnt win, didnt recruit, and didnt show promise anywhere from what i can remember. granted i was in and out of the country for a couple of those years but still. the willingham era seemed like going down a slide. the whole time you just watched the end getting nearer and nearer. i dont see it nor do i understand the racial issue. asomeone tell me im wrong about this please

I understand your points and while i appreciate some of your questions involve ND football, disussing "the race issue" is probably something that will not be positive for the board. if the other mods disagree, they can re-open.

But since Willingham will soon be 4-years removed from the program, it would probably be healthy to move on ourselves. Whatever the motives or justifications were for his firing, continued discussion of them won't likely change the opinions of those who disagree with them, considering the issue remains nearly 4-years later.
