What's the deal with the UCLA 'C' ?

During the football season I noticed that the letter 'C' in the UCLA was painted a different color and I thought it was rather odd, but now I've noticed it's the same on their basketball jerseys. Does anyone know the reasoning behind it?

i think the real answer is this...

"The different color "C" signifies the roman numeral for 100
and celebrates the 100 NCAA Championships won by the Bruins.'"
