I'm not the biggest guy in the world, so my football career was unspectacular. But I could play futbol a wee bit. My best game was when I once scored 7 goals in a game against our h.s. rival. Scored the first off a lucky rebound, and then the rest was just one of those days when you're in that rare zone.

My second favorite moment came when my college coach hooked me up with a chance to scrimmage against the Los Angeles Galaxy (back in the days of Cobi Jones and Mauricio Cienfuegos) inside the Rose Bowl. I was a forward, but they needed someone to start on defense so I jumped in just to get a chance to play. It was pretty sweet, and even though I was fast and in the best shape of my life, I quickly realized why they were professionals and I wasn't. I'd be sprinting stride for stride with their forwards, feeling good about myself, and then BOOM...they were gone when they ball was played through. Those guys had a burst that I simply didn't have.

And guys, GoIrish is being modest...he was a baller who walked on at Valpo. He got to play against ND and Alphonso Ellis, which is pretty damn cool. Ellis even dunked on him, which I think is AWESOME. I wish I could say something like that!

Thanks man! However, in order to be fair, Ellis dunked on me several times. And swatted one off my shots so far out of bounds, I think he might've injured a cheerleader. If the coach had left me in for more than the few minutes he did, I think Ellis could have gone for about 60 points that night. **sigh**

I have a unique story, about as unique as you can get with a video game.

In college I was playing baseball against my friend who was a huge Red Sox fan. Anyway, he was obviously playing with Boston and I don't remember who I was playing with. Point is, I had something like a 5 run lead in the ninth when one of the Sox players singled, and he brought in Dave Roberts to pinch run.

My friend immediately said Roberts would steal 2nd and he would come back to win the game. And he did both.

Only weeks later the Red Sox and Dave Roberts did the same exact thing to kick start their 2004 comeback against the Yankees, and eventually win the Series.

It's kind of freaky to think about still.
