Weak Schedule???

According to all of the haters, ND's schedule is weak (AGAIN). In looking at the latest bowl projections on ESPN (by Maisel and Schlabach), the following are the # of opponents that each of the top 8 ranked BCS schools had that are consensus projections for bowl games and BCS/NC bowl games:

1) OSU: 6 Bowl Games; 1 BCS/NC Game
2)Mich: 6 Bowl Games; 2 BCS/NC Game
3)USC: 9 Bowl Games; 1 BCS/NC Game
4)Florida: 8 Bowl Games; 1 BCS/NC Game
5)ND: 7 Bowl Games; 3 BCS/NC Games
6)Arkansas: 6 Bowl Games; 1 BCS/NC Game
7)WVU: 5 Bowl Games; 1 BCS/NC Game
8)Wisc: 5 Bowl Games; 1 BCS/NC Game

Credit to USC and Florida for respectively 9 and 8 opponents playing in bowl games; but ND has 3 freakin' opponents this year who are projected to play in BCS/NC bowl games, and 4 other opponents in bowl games.

All that flack for playing Navy; they are in a bowl game.

Our schedule is basically on par with every other top 25 team in the country. Now by ND standards I'd say its a little weak, but thats because we've played all the service academies this year.

ND will never win this argument. On paper and in the computers the ND schedule is in the Top 25. Anyone that has an agenda can say almost ANYONE'S schedule is weak.

Well as much as I hate too you have to give USC some credit. Besides their Pac10 schedule they did line up Arkansas, Nebraska and ND for their non-conference games. Those games are pretty rough on anyones schedule

While UF lost huge style points for Western Carolina last week.

Indeed, and to me it even makes the Oregon State loss a bit more understandable. Whenever you play a schedule as tough as USC's has been this year, it wears a team down big-time, because they can't take a week off. And if they do get tired and try to take a week off anyway, that's when a team like Oregon State can bite 'em.

Just one more reason why I think USC is beatable. Those boys are tired. But all respect to 'em in my book. For years they've been slagged for playing a weak schedule, so what did they do in response? Added Arkansas and Nebraska and kept ND. Granted, they probably weren't expecting Arkansas to be a strong team, but hey, at least they picked someone from the SEC instead of, oh, I don't know, the MAC perhaps?

(Insert someone else bitching about how overrated the SEC is here.)

Well, we'll definitely get to see what Arkansas is made of this Friday.. which is sweet, because I could use some football, real fast...especially since I'm going to have to put up with a bunch of my 8 year-old cousins tomorrow, lol.

Mark my words: No way will Arkansas win that game.

It's the last game of the regular season. All the haters you have two more games to go. Until next year.

I would say that Air Force and Navy are more formidable competition than North Carolina and Stanford. Army I'll give you are WEAK, but Navy and Air Force have the following as 3records the past 3 yrs (2003-2005):
Navy: 8-5; 10-2 (won bowl game); 8-4 (won bowl game)
Air Force: 7-5; 5-6; 4-7

Now let's look at Illinois and Indiana:
Illinois: 1-11; 3-8; 2-9
Indiana: 2-10; 3-8; 4-7

Also, some of the teams we play are normally better... The last two years have sucked because the teams we play went to hell in a handbasket...which is unusual for most of them.
