Walker, the Fiesta Highlight

One thing I enjoyed about the Fiesta was watching Darius Walker light up the Ohio #1 dense against the run. He looked to be hitting the holes quicker and making better decisions on which way to cut. No doubt he'll be a 1000+ rusher again next year. Walkers stats for the Fiesta was 16 carries for 90 yards (5.6yards/carry). He'll be fun to watch next year!

I agree..one of the few high spots of the ND game. He came to play--I just wish some of the others had also.

Walker did come to play. He reminded me of when he ran for over 100 yards against Michigan his freshmen year. His cuts were quicker, he hit the holes harder, he was shifty, and of course displayed his patience. Stovall had a pretty nice game too. After dominating the OSU defense on the first drive, our line did not do a good job of finding where AJ Hawk was located. I think Shark left his hands in South Bend for about three quarters of the game. Catches he usually makes were slipping through his hands. Frustrating. I did enjoy Walker though. He really came to play, which made me wonder why they didn't try to run more. Anything to keep our defense off the field would have been greatly appreciated.

My favorite Walker play was his picking up a blitzing AJ Hawk. Hawk tried to jump him, and Darius upended him.

yeah darius just cut his legs high, he made the same great block in the Tennessee game when Fasano caught a TD pass and leaped into the end zone. Walker may not be the rocket, but he can sure play football. He is really, really solid.

I don't care what anybody says. Until he leaves, he is the best option at RB that we have because he is the most complete running back that we have. He's got two more years left and I think that he will do nothing but improve.

God. how I loved that play! I think I'll get a poster of that shot just to remind me that Hawk was no match for little Darius on that one.

I agree. I've read a lot of people digging his grave in favor of incoming freshmen and I have no idea why. Those guys should be great, but Walker is the total package. I think they will all get their carries, but DW is for the time being the workhorse.

Walker is going to play a huge role on the offense next year. He had a great game in the Fiesta Bowl and I think he will do nothing but improve for next year and will have a huge junior season (1200 yards, 8+ tds)

I think he could have had over 100 yards if they would have kept giving it to him. He should have had at least 25-30 carries in that game. He was good. On that first touchdown he hit the hole hard, made a move and was gone.

If that is your definition of huge, Mr. Walker had a huge Sophmore year as well (253 carries 1274 yards 5.0 avg 9 TD's)

Yeah let's shoot for 1500 rushing yards and like 12-15 TD's.

With our potent passing attack I thought I would lower the stats abit, I definitly think its possible that D-Walk could achieve those kind of numbers but we'll see.
