BGIF, I would be most interested in the playing time of all of the backups. Can you direct me to a source?BGIF said:Most all of the backup LBs saw PT this year but most of it wasn't at LB. Brockington, Salvador, Thomas, Quinn, Borsetti, and Smith saw a lot of action on Special Teams.
In order of LB PT, Vernaglia, Borckington and Borsetti saw 10-15 minutes, Smith was about 6, Salvador and Boland (walkon) about 4. Not much LB experience there.

Only in one regard and that is to give me the oportunity to thank you for the statistical data you provide for the site. I'll see if UND.com can sate my appetite for this . Thanks again..BGIF said:I had intended to post a listing of all players PT on this board but ran into difficulty.
There's a listing in the January '06 issue of BGI but as it's the Fiesta Bowl issue it doesn't include that game. The BGI list has Special Teams appearance time lumped in with offensive/defensive PT. I don't recall seeing in this format in past years but I expect ND released it in that format.
Why is the ST time significant? Because with some players their entire PT was with STs. Mitchell Thomas has 42:00 minutes of PT but 84 ST appearances. At 30 seconds/per turns out he had 42 minutes on STs.
In order to get the PT you have to multiply 30 seconds/ST appearance times the number of appearances then deduct that from the Total Time. I started to set up an excel spreadsheet to calculate it for me but had a lot of difficulty getting the numbers to read minutes and seconds, thank you microsoft. I tried every setting in Excel's number formatting without success. I ended up using the spreadsheet to calculate ST time and then deducted that from Total Time to get PT on a calculator. I've done the OL, DLs, QBs, and RBs so far. Give me a day and I'll have them all. Or just ask me who you want to see.
You can also go to UND.com football and look up each player on the roster individually. It appears to have the Fiesta Bowl included but the numbers didn't always jive with the BGI list (for some players that DNP in the Fiesta).
Precise it's not but it does show the relative amount of experience at a position.
Aren't you glad you asked?

I think he had an injury (knee?) shortly after arriving which impacted development but he's never seen to found a home at a position. Something like McNair, a high school stud, a Div 1 tweener. As a recruit I thought he arrived to big for Safety and would become a mobile OLB. The guy who could run with the TEs and RBs and blitz the QB. Didn't happen.
