There's a good article on ESPN right now about how the 2006, 2007, and 2008 drafts should have gone with the benefit of hindsight.

The last paragraph made me smile:

Lastly, we find out that over this three-year period, USC has the best publicity department in college football. The Trojans may have had a lot of players taken in those three first rounds, but no school's picks underperformed worse (Leinart, Reggie Bush, Keith Rivers and Sedrick Ellis fell a combined -382). Then again, Mark Sanchez and Clay Matthews will be counted when we get to fixing 2009-11.

They've been beating us on #s drafted for quite a while, but the above provides some consolation (for those three years at least).

Ryan Harris is the only quality NFL player ND put out during that three-year stretch. We don't have a lot of room to brag.

Also John Carlson. Excuse me.

That passage was offered as small consolation for our sorry draft performance vis-a-vis USC, not as bragging rights.

May I throw in Chinedum Ndukwe in the mix. He was a 7th round pick but was pretty formidable for the Bengals before he got injured.

Tuck was drafted in '05. Battle was drafted in '03.

The article was about the '06, '07, and '08 drafts.
