Much like after the Michigan game everyone needs to take a stop, breathe deep, relax and step away from the ledge. Let’s try to forget the resent past (USC game) and move on. It’s sort of like erasing your ex’s number from your phone. Let’s not let this loss linger and continue with these thread comments that are calling for BK’s job or benching Tommy. Both of those would be devastating right now. We knew form the get go that this program needed a total makeover not just a few key pieces here and there if we wanted to compete on a BCS level. Stay with script and keep marching forward and we will be rewarded somewhere in 2013 and 2014. We’ve waited 20+ yrs what’s 2 more?

Who’s with me?

Calling for BK's job is too much. That being said, if you look at ND's games against actually good teams, the performance has not improved. That's what upsets me. When it matters most, this team usually chokes.

BK made a comment about this team not knowing how to win...it is referenced in the Irish Connection video on und.com. I don't think it is choking, but the expectation for success has to be established before you experience it. There are still players from back to back 6-6 regimes (not dogging CW, so don't go there) that don't know how to overcome that "hump".

This is an overlooked part of building a program. You have to change the mindset...of everyone on the inside and outside. That includes the "here we go mentality" of the fans base in the stands.

An interesting note from Wiscy and MSU...BOTH teams came back from 14 point deficits in the game. I don't think that either team suffered from the "woe is me" mentality, and certainly the fans at the MSU game did not give up with the score 14-0 in the first quarter. Yet, down 17-0 I heard so many, "well, thats that" coming from the section I was sitting in. At some point, that mental garbage has to change.

Constantly shrinking in the spotlight is something this program as been plagued with for awhile. Sometimes I wonder if its a institutional thing.

With that said I think still BK is just the guy to beat it out of them. If not him than I don't know who. Unfortunately Lou isn't walking through that door.

Your dead on. Kelly has to build them up. Some programs can be built quicker but unfortunatly for us it will take longer. I have 100% faith in Coach Kelly and I think we will look back in a few years and laugh at ourselves. Kelly has what it takes.

Maybe thats waht this team Needs Lou to come in here and tell them this team is an average team. Someone needs to make this team understand that. Teams aren't going to to give us a win because we are ND.

And we are not going to win with a pep talk from Lou Holtz. We do not have the talent to compete right now week in and week out, and unfortunately some of the talent we do have only exhibit any poise when things are going well. We have some real players, I don't think we need to go into who, if you watch the games you know. But the bottom line being that we have to have time. Kelly needs time. He really only has one full recruiting class in, and let's be honest as a class group, (i.e. Freshmen, Sophs, Juniors, Seniors) the freshmen are producing more plays at key times in games then any other group. Any one calling for BK's head is overreacting. No way you can abandon a coach before 5 years is up. It's just not realistic when trying to build a consistent BCS contender.

To me this season is a failure, with this team/our schedule we should have easily gone 11-1 or 10-2 with a BCS game. I'm sorry but I just can't be satisfied with a likely 8-4 record playing in the Champs Sports Bowl. Kelly definitely shouldn't be fired, once he gets his QB in his system he'll be better off.

To me it's not a failure for two reasons.

1.) A lot of good freshman are getting playing time.

2.) I think the talent everyone is talking about is just not there. You can look good in a uniform and have 4-5 stars coming out of HS but at the end of the day its about making plays. I have yet to seen anyone from this team be a consistent, week in and week out, dominant force, including Floyd and Teo, especially against equal competition. It's all good and great when you can beat up on Air Force but when someone your own size shows up to the fight you can't fade away.

Really the only player I can think of that brought his A game every week and been Eifert.
