Released this morning....ND at 29.

USATODAY.com

Just 120 points from cracking the top 25! :) That's in the neighborhood where I thought ND would start out (26-30). IMO, too many questions to be answered on the cohesiveness of this young team to realistically have them much higher starting out the season.

Is this the first time in a number of years that Notre Dame isn't in the top 25 preseason?

Do you consider 2005 a number of years?

That was the last time? Obviously I'm not a follower of Notre Dame, but I was trying to remember a year where they weren't a preseason top 25 team and I couldn't draw one up, I was thinking maybe the early 2000's but not as late as 2005 at all.

The team has a great opportunity to move up the poll quickly as six opponents ranked ahead of the Irish are among our first eight opponents. Must make Coach Weis happy that we play such a 'cupcake' schedule.

MU picked to win the big 12 north and Nebraska is 19 and Mizzou, like always takes the shaft instead of the elevator going unranked

Yep, 2005 was Charlie Weis's first year at ND. ND was not ranked to start the season.

Duke even got a vote. Word is that Spurrier votes for them at 25 b/c he thinks preseason polls are pointless.

In the last 10 years, there have been more than a couple I think. 2005 was only the latest.

2002, 2004, 2005, 2007 are the most recent ones.

These preaseason polls should be banned. While they are fun to argue about they should be left for the preview mags and such.

I believe this poll still has bearing on BCS standings. Any poll that has an influence in the BCS should be started I say the first or second week of October.

Nd is actually a little above where I thought they'd be, and so is Wisconsin. While Penn State, Michigan, Louisville, and Boston College are lower than I thought they'd be.

Duke (0-12) 1

LOL, I see Spurrier is still voting in the poll.
