As for Florida and Urban Meyer, let's face it: We're pissed because we didn't get the guy we wanted as fans. The choice doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that he had White fly out to Utah KNOWING his mind was made up on Gainesville. He used ND as leverage and cost them time in the coaching search. We had to take a guy that isn't even going to be our coach officially until the end of this week. For that, Urban Meyer sucks.

Hello?? are you kidding me???

Honestly I think Urban Meyer did us the biggest favor anyone could have done. Why some people want a Davies assistant that has only had success in the MAC and Mountain west over CW is beyond me.

CW is going to be a coach, not a friend to these players. Mark me you are going to see a change in this team next year and most of us wont believe we are even watching mostly the same team from last year.

I am sending my "Thank you" card to Urban Meyer today...no joke!!!

I love your optimism. But back in December, Urban Meyer was the guy. Charlie Weis was an afterthought in the discussion. I believe, in football as well as in life, things happen for a reason. Weis being in South Bend is going to be a good thing. The results might not be immediate, though. As far as I'm concerned, these last two recruiting classes have them behind.

From a recruiting standpoint, Meyer would have been a valuable asset for the very reason you mentioned above. Weis is all business with recruiting, and while I like this approach, I am old school. Will it work with these modern day, primadonna blue chip players? Let's hope it does for our sake. With Weis, the kid is either interested or he isn't. Then he moves on. I'm guessing this is the apprach he HAD to take under the circumstances this year, but I'm willing to bet he'll stick to a similar approach as the full time man in charge.

I have no problem with it. Meyer will be a tough guy to go up against for prospects.

well i dont root for the bucks. just because i went to school there doesnt mean i am inclined to be a bucknut. i never went to a game there either. if i had grown up a buckeye fan, it would be different. if i had to choose an alma mater, it would be the Marines, because i learned more in the 4 years i was there than the 4 years of school.
Nothing against you Texan its just youre different from alot of people out there. But there is nothing wrong in that and wasnt trying to put you on the spot. Sorry if i did.....

wow, haven't picked up this thread in awhile (tells you something about how old it is when the last post in the thread was from irishgo8). I guess we have a Florida fan in our midst. Nothing wrong w/ that, I'm sure Meyer will work out for you guys.

Still though, I think I speak for just about all Irish fans when I say that we are generally happy w/ the way things turned out. Notre Dame really needed to start over w/ a new face and a new attitude, and Weis brings that. They needed a coach of a different mold I think, someone more of an in-your-face tell-it-how-is Parcels/Bellichek type, and Weis obviously fits the bill. I can honestly say if you told me we could swap coaches right now, I wouldn't and I would hold on to Charlie (although I completely admit, back in December I wasn't saying that). Like someone said in this thread a few months back, things happen for a reason.

So anyway, I'm sure Florida will do just fine w/ Meyer, but we like our guy too. Both programs seem to be looking up right now at least. We'll see I guess.
