Man both Tressel and Meyer. I hope Tressel gets in the same sinking boat Nehuasiel is in now (i get the impression he has nothing to bring to the table and it looks as if Washington will win this one although i actually hope Nehuasel does something to prove himself innocent.) And i cant wait till meyer leaves for the pro's. I personally can not stand Ohio State or Florida State but as for Meyer after he used ND i cant stand him either.....

PS i dont know if i spelled Nehuesail right any of the times if not please forgive - i think you all know who i am talking about.

I'm pretty sure all three versions are spelled wrong.

i don't like to be negative and wish people the worst but...well, maybe i do. anyway, nothing will make me happier than to see urban meyer fail. no i don't know the guy personally, but the shennanigans this guy has pulled is just enough to piss me off. something about this guy just seems sketchy. can anybody else agree with me? bottom line, i hope this guy gets wiped up in the sec.

Well in a way i do but this guy is not going to fail. He can devolop his players and enough of a deal was made of him that recruits want to come to him. In a few years he'll be in the NFL and gone though - he spent let me see 2 years at Utah? 2 years at Bowling Green (or wherever he was before Utah). He is a good coach and you cant deny it. He may not be great but when you only spend 2 years at a school then ill be you within 3 years if he doesnt fail he'll be in the NFL. His system will probably run ok - i mean he cant be worse than Zook.

Derrick McPhearson decommitted from Florida and went to Illinois.

This kid was a stud, Scout had him as the 8th best WR, 4 star player with 4.4 speed.

I'm sure Urban was pissed Zook stole him.

This kid was real important because Nelson is slow, they needed the speed Mcphearson provided.

I just find it funny that all the people who were talking about the "Urban Legend" back in December now hate him worse than Matt Leinart and think he's gonna get demolished by the SEC.

i agree with you completely. i was PISSED when the irish missed out on meyer, and i think he would have been a great coach for ND, but i'm also (in hindsight) very grateful to have weis, who i think will do a better job than anyone we could've hired. i had no idea who he was prior to the coaching search (i had heard of him but did not know he was an ND grad), whereas i was kicking around meyer's name back when we hired willingham.

i think he'll do fine at florida. he has the work ethic and attention to detail that set great coaches apart from ordinary coaches...

Have to give you and Vince the thumbs up here. I actually wanted Meyer to be hired and i to was pissed when Urban said florida bt when i heard the C-Dub "inauguration" lol speech then i changed my mind. He said everything that he needed to do to take us to a NC right away. But iagree with Vince - why do people think he is going to be the Rockne at ND and the Zook at florida. It doesnt stand to reason.

It never came up in conversation on these boards, but I was lobbying for Weis when Willingham was hired. I was a bit concerned of Meyer's successes in the MAC being used as an indicator, and his Utah team was full of JUCOs in their mid-twenties.

And I certainly preferred Weis to Clements. If I remember correctly, Weis was pissed that he wasn't even approached when Willingham was hired.

Meyer scared me because he was one of Davie's goons. That whole clique leaves every indication of shallow opportunism. Davie is genuinely detestable.

Its funny, it used to be that FSU was the only team in Florida that I couldn't stand. I hated the Seminoles so much I'd actually root for Florida and Miami to beat them whenever they played. I guess now there's two teams in the sunshine state I hope falls flat on their faces thanks to this loser Meyer.....Oh well, hope Larry Coker doesn't say anything about ND to piss me off.

you've clearly supressed the memories of the late 80's - early 90's miami vs. nd series. there's not a team in florida that i'll root for anymore....

Why does anybody root for any team other than ND? I guess if some other school were your Alma Mater, it's okay...

eh , I mean I'm a Notre Dame fan first and foremost, but I'm a fan of the game as well. I'm gonna have teams that I like more than others besides Notre Dame just b/c I like the way they do things or I like the coach, or (most usually) they and Notre Dame have a common enemy (like when UCLA plays USC for example). I don't see any harm in admiting that, as long as I always root for Notrde Dame all 11 games a year they play regardless of the oponent (+ the bowl game when applicable).

and in response to the ND Miami series, I am a little young to have really appreciated it back then, so yeah I guess I wouldn't have the same feelings toward Miami that a fan who's even just 5 or 6 years older than me would have.

It's funny - I'm a Central Michigan University grad, and I still work for the university. I've only been to one CMU football game - several ND games. In fact, I can't remember the last time I missed an ND game on television.

The ND/Miami series was great - they really gave you someone to hate. Jimmy Johnson and his teams were the complete opposite of the Irish...Anybody remember the Miami/Colorado (I think it was Colarado) brawl...seems like that one started during warmups. Or the time that Miami showed up for the game wearing combat fatigues, etc. It was fun to hate Miami back then....

As far as supporting other teams, I tend to support the Big Ten, living in the midwest and all. All but Michigan State - they've got the worst fans ever.

Well i must disagree with you here texan. All i can say is this - those who hate ND or dont like ND or whatever dont know ND history cause if they did theyd be a HUGE ND fan.

Gotta go with Big Irish on this one A-Smith. I will always hate Miami. Nothing better than Ohio State beating them in the Fiesta Bowl and hearing them cry about it.

As for Florida State, every time I hear that Dukes of Hazard Dadgum Good Ol' Boy Bobby Bowden talk it makes me want to puke. That program has been nothing without Mark Richt and Chuck Amato. They're dirty and get away with it because they make college football money. The ND victory in 2002 was so sweet. Arnaz Battle doing the chop after a TD...not ND classy, but I liked it.

As for Florida and Urban Meyer, let's face it: We're pissed because we didn't get the guy we wanted as fans. The choice doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that he had White fly out to Utah KNOWING his mind was made up on Gainesville. He used ND as leverage and cost them time in the coaching search. We had to take a guy that isn't even going to be our coach officially until the end of this week. For that, Urban Meyer sucks.

just to add to that, what about when nd played miami in '88. i was at this game and there was a big brawl in the tunnel, and i remember the student section pelting the miami players with oranges. it was classic.

Lol Texan i dont know if you were serious in asking me. What i meant was this:

There are thousands of people who love their Alma Mater. So they cheer for their football team or basket ball team, etc. My Dad although a HUGE Irish fan still liked his alma mater as much as ND.

Oh yeah - everybody hated Miami. I can even remember an issue of sports illustrated where the cover was one headline, no pictures, and read: "Why the University of Miami Should Dismantle their Football Program"

'89 or '88? That was the famous 31-30 game, wasn't it? Miami went for a two point conversion with time running out - a pass batted down in the end zone. Gotta hand it to Jimmy - don't know many coaches any more that would go for the win instead of the tie (especially with overtime), but he had some brass balls...

I've got a highlight tape from that year...Chris Zorich made one of the hardest backfied tackles I can remember...

well i dont root for the bucks. just because i went to school there doesnt mean i am inclined to be a bucknut. i never went to a game there either. if i had grown up a buckeye fan, it would be different. if i had to choose an alma mater, it would be the Marines, because i learned more in the 4 years i was there than the 4 years of school.
