I was wondering your opinions on a few questions about Notre Dame Football Players. do you think that they get answers to test? Students doing their homework? If they get money from alumni. Are they student-athletes or just athletes? What length what they go to land a recruit? Do you think that a degree that a Notre Dame Football Player earned is equal to that of a regular Notre Dame student?

I think you need to get a life, instead of pretending to be an ex ND player on the internet.

Sorry, but I am Kevin Kopka Notre Dame Kicker 1995-98. You would have to be really sad to pretend to be me.

Hey, I think we'd all trade places with you for just for one Saturday, to be able to walk out the tunnel to that gorgeous field as a player, not a fan.

I'm sure the good Fathers of The Congregation of Holy Cross are proud of you. A man they educated, who can't spell "mystique" and doesn't know the difference between "their" and "there". ;)

Pretty funny considering how this relates to the original post that started this thread.

If you are indeed who you say you are kicker20, then I think your question has been answered.

I never knew the internet to be a place for proper grammar. I would think the Notre dame Fans would show a little respect to the players who would bleed for them. The 16 right leg surgeries I have had in the last 7 years began at Notre Dame playing on a torn leg. Playing with the respect the players before us had. I have no regrets about the sport that has left me unable to bend my leg. Putting on the gold and blue was an Honor.

It's not difficult to use proper grammar under any circumstances. Look around this board, 99% of the posters use words in the proper context at all times.

Seven surgeries? Were you an offensive lineman? A running back? I thought you were a kicker.

P.S. Most people refer to it as the Blue and Gold.
P.P.S It's spelled Keyshawn.

Integrity

as it should be

I don't have any problems with people ripping you, hate mail, death threats, etc.. They come with the job. I just can't stand the guy who doesn't have the heart to put his body on the line week after week. I am one who gets a good laugh about kicker jokes and don't mind what people say about me as a player. To take personally shots is immature .

Personally shots?

Kickers putting their bodies on the line? What are you doing now, stand up comedy?

Oops, strike that, you can't stand up.

Well, one of my best friends, a DI receiver, opted for surgery early on too. He also can't bend his leg after several surgeries. I quickly "googled" Kopka last night. (Yep, my life is that simple right now, maybe). I read one or two articles.

If this guy is who he says he is, then so be it and I appreciate and am excited that a former player is sharing his insight.

If he is not who he says he is, it is still O.K. to me because I agree with many of his opinions. If he is a fake who has negative intentions, he should know that authorities are aware of identity theft. If anyone on this board knows Kopka, they should call him and tell him that his name is being used on this forum. If it really is him, he will respond with a "Yep, that's me!" Or something like that.

My first impression is that the freegin Irish FG-PAT game needs to become a bit more consistant in order for me to quit slamming my nerfball into the sofa. I have thrown my arm out 7 times and cannot bend my elbow.

Kevin,

What did you think about the Priests at Notre Dame? Did you ever consider the priesthood?

What did he mean by a torn leg?

I've heard of a torn ACL or MCL but I've never heard of a torn leg.

Once again Timugen, you amaze. It took me 3 reads to understand your point. I got it after the 2nd, but read it a 3rd time to confirm. You have a 175 IQ or what? Are you a graduate of DuLac? Should I be posting this in a private message instead? Why am I typing to myself? Echo, echo...

Thanks for chiming in.

I've heard of a torn ACL or MCL but I've never heard of a torn leg.

Kopka had 90% of his cartilage in his right knee removed his junior year (give or take). He fell to third string after a great frosh season, because he destroyed his knee. His younger brother played at Maryland.

Similar to throwing your arm out too early. I posted my opinion on how to improve the kicking game. Look for it if you are interested.

if you do not want to look it up, I will help

I posted earlier somewhere that the problem is not the kicker himself. The problem starts with the snap and the placement of the ball by the holder, assuming the holder can place the ball within the area that the massively strong-legged kicker can feel safe enough to adjust his footing in a split second in order gain leverage in order to accurately punch the pig long enough and accurately enough between the goalposts. ND is not doing that.

I read it and I thought you made good points. The kicking game has been painful to say the least.

You have pretty good medical info. I had the surgery before the First game of the 1996 season. I originally tore my knee before the 1995 Orange Bowl. They felt I should kick and put off the surgery as long as possible. I was 1st string going into my junior year, but I re injured my leg and had to stop playing.
My brother Brian was the kicker for Maryland from 1997-2000.

Weis had one of his destroyed. My right knee is gone. I describe it as a bad knee. I do not tell people that my Anterior Cruciate Ligament and Lateral Meniscus, and Medial Meniscus are ripped. Drs refuse to touch. It is too boring to me to explain those details when someone asks why I am limping.

Kopka had 90% of his cartilage removed, according to 1 article I read.

I think the message here is "lay off the kicker - he is selling out for ND, but coaches don't have their shit together yet." I guess coaches at ND still think kickers don't need a team.

It's getting late.

You played on the team. You should know if players were getting money and grades better than we would.

Kickers have one job to do: Kick. Most coaches don't even want their kickers trying to make tackles on kickoffs so I don't know what you mean by "sell out". I'm sure that the kickers give it their all and they face a lot of situations involving incredible amounts of pressure. But I will never say that a kicker "sells out".

This guy isn't Kevin Kopka and that is the sentiment of my posts. Nothing more.

Kickers have one thing to do. Kick. They should have the ability to have faith that the snapper will accurately snap the ball within centimeters of where the holder/placer expects to catch the ball. The kicker will then confidently pooch the ball from 70 yards away (if neccessary).

After that simple assignment, the kicker will become so overconfident in his ability that he will destroy anyone that attempts to return a failed field goal attempt, or muffed snap.

That's all in my imagination.

No wait. It's not.
