According to The Sporting News College Football Preview:

1. Notre Dame
2. Tennessee
3. Florida
4. Texas
5. USC

USC? Seriously? They have road games against Cal and Arizona State. Oregon at home. Play ND on the road, Arkansas and Fresno State at home. I'm not buying it. Someone else surely has a tougher schedule. Ohio State maybe?

Once again, Notre Dame ranks at the top of the list for toughest schedule. I love all the haters who tell me ND plays service academies and still can't win a bowl. Michigan, USC, Tennessee...all in one year.

I hope that we continue to keep the toughest schedule in the land. I certainly don't want anyone saying that we changed to an easier schedule when we start being a factor again...and you know they will.

purdue's sissy a** has a weak schedule this year. They should just about go undefeated, but they will find a way to mess it up. Who does Florida play this year for their season opener? Im interested to see how Meyers offense will work with much more talented defense's on hand.

Looking at this I am reminded of the brillant advice Bob Davie gave to the Urban Legend -- "Play Close Attention to the Schedule" in helping him make his decision. Thanks for those words of wisdom coach.

09/10/2005 Louisiana Tech Gainesville, Fla. TBA
09/17/2005 Tennessee Gainesville, Fla. TBA
09/24/2005 Kentucky Lexington, Ky. TBA
10/01/2005 Alabama Tuscaloosa, Ala. TBA
10/08/2005 Mississippi State Gainesville, Fla. TBA
10/15/2005 LSU Baton Rouge, La. TBA
10/29/2005 Georgia Jacksonville, Fla. TBA
11/05/2005 Vanderbilt Gainesville, Fla. TBA
11/12/2005 South Carolina Gainesville, Fla. TBA

I think Sporting News is nuts. Tennessee and Florida State are at home. Those first two games should be woodshed worthy.

The gators have a really good shot at starting out 3-0, if they can beat tennessee, but they have them at home. Wyoming is no joke, they proved it last year when they beat UCLA. Jesus, looking at all their home games, Meyer has a chance to win at the very least least 9 games. He could even go undefeated if his offense can pick up his system fast enough, the Gators have the talent to. They only leave the state of Florida 3 times to play games. 7 games in Gainesville and 1 in Jacksonville.

LSU on the road will be a very tough game. I could see FLA getting beat down in that one.

The Vols are very good. I don't think they have the intimidating fear of UF that the Gators instilled to them under The Visor.

Alabama on the road could be a trap. Shula is on the hot seat and there is a sense of urgency to win. That could be a huge feather in their caps.

What about Texas ranked 4? I think the BigXII is the easiest of the 'big' conferences, given that the entire northern division is weanie. That means Mack Brown just has to beat OK. OK State, Texas Tech, and TexasA&M can all rise to the challenge, but Texas certainly has the recruiting advantage and fanbase over them.

Home games against LA-Lafayette, Rice, Colorado, Texas Tech, and Kansas. Would anybody expect them to lose any of those games? Away games against Missouri, OK State, and Texas A&M. Okay, the last two of those could sneak up and bite them, but really shouldn't. OK at a neutral site and OSU in Columbus are good games, but this schedule does not strike me as one of the toughest.

09/03 Louisiana-Lafayette
09/10 at Ohio State
09/17 Rice
10/01 at Missouri
10/08 vs. Oklahoma (Cotton Bowl)
10/15 Colorado
10/22 Texas Tech
10/29 at Oklahoma State
11/05 at Baylor
11/12 Kansas
11/25 at Texas A&M

I say USC's schedule is definitely more difficult than this.

Missouri or A & M could sneak up on them, OU should beat them. On the road in Columbus under the lights against Ohio State will not be easy. Everyone else is at home and they should win.

I'd say Mizzou, A & M, OU and Ohio State alone make their schedule tougher than USC's.

I suggest looking at North Carolina's schedule. Murder. They went to a bowl last year, but don't expect them to this year. Lost their QB and their schedule is a minefield.

The must win for ND is Michigan State.

SC at home is going to be nuts. I think the staff will have these guys really focused for that one.

Things are tough in Sept and Oct, as always. Hopefully everyone stays healthy so they can get the wins at the end.

I think the most important games are the first 2. If ND can win at both Pitt and Mich away from home, they will have one hell of a year. The confidence that will bring to the team will be unbelievable! If that happens, I feel sorry for Mich. St...."the house that Rockne built" will be going f :censored: ing nuts!

Michigan State will be huge because ND will either be 2-0, 1-1 or 0-2 heading into that home opener. My money is on 1-1 or 0-2, so that game will be critical for the rest of the season in terms of playing for a bowl.

Should ND start out 2-0, the home field will be buzzing with the next coaching staff for a home opener. Got pressure? MSU has played ND well for the last several years.
