Thanks for ALL of the info Jigga.

I take those 10, that's a good place to START. Throw in a few more DLinemen and Backers and the foundation will be laid...

Yeah next year's class should consist mostly of DBs, LBs, linemen (O & D), and a whole lot of speed.

CW said he wants 25 guys. I'd break it down as such (Please check my math):

1 QB- Jim Clausen
2 RB-Marc Tyler, Darren Evans
1 FB- John Clay
3 WR- Benn, Terrance Tolliver, Wayne Bonner
1 TE- Chris Ragone
4 OL-Miles Stroter, Ben Oglesby, Sam DeMartinis, SioneTau
2 DE- Ben Martin, Sidell Corley
4 DT- Myles Wade, Joseph Barksdale, Marvin Austin, Andre Jones
3 LB-Steve Paskorz, Andrew Dailey, Marshall Williams
2 CB- Gary Gray, Dionte Allen
2 S- Mark Barnes, Lorenzo Edwards

I don't think Ben Martin will leave Ohio. Thus, Justin Trattou is in.

Those D line and DB's make me giddy. MAN, there is some talent there!!

Williams would be another GA linebacker.

Thanks Jigga, great read.

Who knows how Clausen will pan out in college. For every "next big thing" that reaches or exceeds expectations there are many that don't. All that being said, it sounds like recruiting this kid could be critical in creating a domino effect that leads to a number of other big commitments. For that reason alone I hope we get him, but for the record I do like his potential.

Besides one or two big DT recruits, I hope we land Oglesby. I love big offensive linemen and at 6-7, 315-pounds he meets my criteria. With that size I like his ability to keep defensive linemen in front of him and keep their hands down. The way Charlie and Latina are recruiting and developing the o-line, with these guying paving the way we might have another Four Horsemen story (or two) in the near future.

Oglesby and Young together would be monsters.

Stroter would be a guard in college. Sione Tau is 6-5 270 and could also project to guard.

I really like that list of 25. Allen, Gray, Edwards and Barnes would be an even better secondary than the one ND just inked a few days ago.

I've updated my list. Putting Darren Evans in place of Chris Rainey and John Clay in place of Robert Hughes.

If SC can bring in multiple stud RB in their classes, so can Charlie.

Tyler, Evans, Clay....Oh man.

Those in bold are on the pre evaluation Rivals Top 100.

Don't forget Ronald Johnson (safety or corner?)

I don't think ND can pry him away from the Skunk Bears. I guess the same could be said for Allen too, but I like Gray and Allen better from what I've seen on video.

Johnson is a nice player, though. Would be a big grab.

Couple of revisions here.

I don't think Tolliver is going to leave the state of Texas. You can probably say the same for Malcolm Williams, who Texas A&M will be tough to beat, but I'm substituting him in at WR. There seems to be mutual interest at this point.

I also noticed I only had 24 guys on the list, so I'm adding a fourth WR to the list, though it was tough not to add a fourth LB instead. I have the math ability of a Clydesdale.

I'm starting to like Mike Paulus more and more it seems. Clausen is still the guy, though....

QB- Jimmy Clausen
RB- Marc Tyler
WR- Benn, Greg Little, Malcolm Williams and Mark Barnes
TE- Ragone, Rob Gronkowski
OT- Oglesby, Davis
OG- Stroter, Allen
DE- Corley, Trattou and Martin
DT- Jones, Austin, Wade, Barksdale
LB- Richetti Jones, Dailey, Marshall Williams
CB- Allen and Gray
S- Edwards

I'm wondering if two tight ends isn't more likely now with Hiben leaving the team. Any talk of Yeatman to the line is probably dead, but I would think TE still becomes a bigger target. Charlie seems to like multiple TE sets, and that's tough to do without good TE depth.

I'm not sure who would drop from your list to add a TE, though. Maybe one of the safeties.

Luke Schmidt's versatility is going to play a huge role in this right now. He is going to be a chess piece Charlie can move all over the board.

Ragone is being compared to Reuland and is being touted as someone that will be better in his senior year than Reuland was in terms of evaluation.
That sounds pretty nice to me.

Yeatman also figures prominently into this equation now, but I'm not sure how much he can be counted on in the immediate future.

I like Rob Gronkowski (NY) and Derek Drummond of Pittsburgh Penn Hills as TE prospects. Drummond has a 3.1 grade point average and scored a 1200 on the SAT. Gronkowski visited for junior day and likes Coach Vaas a lot.

Moving Barnes to WR, Gronkowski as #2 TE. Dropping DJ Donley.

Yeah, I discussed Schmidt as a possibilit in another thread somewhere around here. I think he'd at least work in an h-back role in lieu of a TE.

Ragone looks like a great prospect. I'm not saying I don't think he can step in and help. I just think the position now has a serious lack of depth and in this offense, TE is an important position.

I'd be surprised to not see two TE's taken this year.

Why 4 OL? Is 10 OL in two years normal? If I'm going to build a team from the ground up, I'd rather have a glut at almost any area than OL (since OLs work best when they have experience together). Picking up extra DBs, LB and DL would seem more important than having two full OLs worth of recruits over two years (especially since they could help more on ST).

Offensive Tackle Ht. Wt. Cl./Elig. PT
Ryan Harris 6-5 288 Sr./1 971:30
Brian Mattes 6-6 285 5th/1 40:48
Mike Turkovich 6-6 290 So./3 25:15
Paul Duncan 6-7 292 So./3 23:45

Guard/Center Ht. Wt. Cl./Elig. PT
Bobby Morton 6-4 292 5th/1 753:57
John Sullivan 6-4 298 Sr./2 640:54
Dan Santucci 6-4 290 5th/1 409:05
Chris Stewart 6-5 340 Fr./1 -

There is not a single junior offensive lineman on this football team.

4 of these guys are gone after 2006 and Sullivan will decide if he wants to return or not. Add in the five guys who will arrive this summer and this is an awful thin group.

Thus, taking four more OL in 2007 is more than likely a must. 10 in two years is catch up from the misses of years past.

Bolded players do not have offers.

Richetti Jones got his Texas offer a week ago. My heart is broken. Kyle Jackson of Georiga will be my wish list ILB, Andrew Dailey OLB to compliment Nagel.

With Kerry Neal, I'm dropping Corley from Alabama off the DE list and keeping Martin and Trattou. Corley still has no offer and ND might be slipping until they offer him. Andre Jones is Texas bound, so add Leman Williams from Virginia. Moving Mark Barnes to WR, adding Major Wright to safety from St. Thomas Aquinas in Florida.

With Hiben gone, add Gronkowski with Ragone at TE.

2 down, 23 to go.

I like it. Two backs instead of two safeties. That Armando Allen would be a huge grab.

Everson Griffen is awesome. I think he'll be tough to get from Arizona State or other Pac 10 schools that show interest. I like Toliver, but if Texas offers him he's as good as gone. Luther Davis could be a tough grab from LSU and Ole Miss.

i was thinking about adding DE D’Angelo McCray to my list as well.

Luther is telling Scout.com his comments on Rivals were misquoted.

McCray will be tough to get from Florida's Big 3. He'll take some convincing.
