LOS ANGELES (AP) - Wide receiver Damian Williams has transferred to Southern California after making 19 catches for 235 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman at Arkansas this past season.
Williams enrolled at Southern California on Monday and attended a team meeting, USC sports information director Tim Tessalone said.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder from Springdale, Ark., will have to sit out next season to comply with NCAA transfer rules.
Williams had four catches for 62 yards in the Razorbacks' 50-14 loss to USC in the season opener at Fayetteville, Ark.
The Southeastern Conference all-freshman team selection missed the No. 12 Razorbacks' 17-14 loss to No. 6 Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Fla., on Jan. 1.
Apparently unhappy with the Razorbacks' run-oriented offense, Williams had asked for his release from Arkansas and coach Houston Nutt granted it. Williams committed to Florida when he was recruited in high school, but changed his mind and signed with Arkansas.
