Just listened to Kelly's supposed, "I am stayin man" quote on WEBN. If people think that is a real denial of going to ND, they are smoking something.

I think where we disagree is that we believe we have given you reason enough to realize that he is a better choice than CW. Now you can argue that with the money he may not but outside of the money I think it's an easy argument to say that Kelly is a better choice than CW. However, it's not a slam dunk obviously I think we can all agree on that.

No one on here can prove that Brian Kelly is a better coach than CW. Different teams, different towns, different schedules, different players and different standards. The only way to tell who's the best is to put Brian in the same place as Charlie.

Its the simple fact that he has won at every level he has been at. For anyone following college football for any length of time you know that NFl coaches turned college coaches generally don't work out that well. I loved the Weis hire. He was bold, he had rings, he was an alum, he got it. Sadly he whiffed.

Weis is gone. We have a vacancy. Depending who you believe, there isn't much interest for the job at ND since the lawyers have been busy drafting contract extensions for umpteen coaches in the past few weeks. IMO its either Stoops or Kelly, and I would be happy with both.

Id be happy knowing that we actually did a thorough search to figure out the next guy has what it takes, if Brian Kelly is that guy after 10-15 interviews with other candidates varying from current college HC's, college assistants, or NFL assistants(with college experience) then I would be happy with the hire.

I will not be happy if we end this process talking to only Randy Edsall before naming Brian Kelly Head Coach next week.

Cincy??? A top 5 BCS team? Championship Contender? Who would ever thought this would happen? Brian Kelly made it happen. This guy is an offensive genius, sort of like Weis in offensive schemes. This is a guy who can continue to put points up on the scoreboard each game for the irish. Some people critisize his defense of tactics, but It better be damn well better than our defense this year. It should be, Im not worrying about that. I do believe Kelly is a motivator, hes not afraid of getting into players facemasks. Which will be good for our team. Its time for a new start. Its time for BCS birth again and I know Kelly is very hardworking and will do anything possible to make the Fighting Irish Successful if Swarbrick decides to hire him. We can only hope.

No need to listen to him. There are A LOT of people that don't agree with him, people who are involved with football who know a lot more than we do. Google it. They think Kelly is a great coach and would be a great hire. Others don't agree. Who knows who is right?

I will say this...anyone who says that Kelly can't coach just because he hasn't been at big school doesn't know history and is fooling themselves. For every DickRod I can give you a Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Jim Tressel, etc etc etc.

Personally, I'd have no qualms with ND hiring an up and comer like Kelly. Look at his track record. He wins wherever he goes. He takes his 2 and 3 star talents and regularly beats teams with equal and even better talent. The guy can coach, period. Don't let anybody tell you differently. Is he ready for prime-time? That's where Champen and others are worried. Remains to be seen...

I am not a Brian Kelly fane but JimTressel and pete Carrol were not sexy hires. I know alot of SC fans were mad at the thought of Carroll, though most wont admit it.

There is no way of knowing how a coach will do at ND until 3 years afterthey are hired.

Mike Frank from ISD, who is serious about these things and does not post crap unless he's positive about it, is reporting that his sources are saying that ND officials have been in contact with Brian Kelly.

Doesn't mean we're out of it with Stoops necessarily, doesn't mean he'll even accept (we've been down that road before), but if it's true it means that there is a great possibility that he could be the next hire...

Yes I do. Croom was DC at Green Bay before accepting the Miss St. job. If I remember correctly, he was also interviewed for the Alabama job that Mike Shula got and was pretty upset. While he did improve Miss St., he was still fired after a short tenure, so I consider that failing.

Callahan sucked so bad he makes Weis look like Knute Rockne.

I think everyone needs to just relax and let it play out - I have all the faith that Jack did not fire Charlie without having a decent pool of candidates. He is being backed by Debartolo and pushing the University to get it right - it will not come to a head for a couplel of weeks I am guessing because everyone ND is talking to is coaching today.

I could have sworn that report came directly from BCL about him having agreed to a contract extension, but not having signed it.

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but something isn't passing the smell test for me on this, even though I want it to be him.

If this were an X Files episode, I would definitely be the skeptic I guess, I always think the worst until I see it play out.

Guess that's why when my ChiSox won the World Series a few years ago I kept waking for someone to wake me up.
