Nick Tausch won the kicking job over Walker, per CW's presser. Feel bad for Walker, who overcame a lot to figure it out at the end of the year, but for a freshman to come in and win the job...wow. Said he won it rather convincingly. Will also be kicking off...

Kicking off and field goal responsibilities? Or just kicking off?

I'd be surprised if Charlie put a freshman kicker in this early for field goals, but the kid definitely has the leg for kickoffs

I really feel bad for Walker. I thought he took a lot of crap and then got himself right to finish strong with very little credit for fixing his mistakes, but if Tausch is that good, I am pretty stoked to have a solid kicker right from the get-go. Good luck Nick!

Tausch will be taking both kickoffs and field goal duties.

To be honest, after watching the last two seasons' field goal kicking, I am not surprised by this. I don't particularly care who does the kicking as long as they are accurate and consistent.

I'm with Memphis on this...

Especially after the Pitt game last year, when the game came down to kicking mid-range field goals, I was already white knucking the arm of my chair with Walker in. He was inconsistant. Now, if Froshy T starts to crack, Walker will have the chance to win back the job.

Congrats Nick... You've earned it.

I'm happy for the kid, but am also grateful for the 17 other kickers on scholarship that are there to push him.

I honestly don't feel bad for Walker. I am biased because my best friend is a kicker and worked his ass off for 3 years, playing for EMU, Toledo, and then finally getting on BGSUs team only to suffer an injury and never be able to play. Although he did play in the spring game haha.

I just never understood how such a rich, storied, great program can never find a solid kicker. Walker was below average, so inconsistent and really no range at all. He had his chance and just couldn't produce.

I have no sympathy for Walker, either.
