This is my 1,000th post so I feel the need to make it worthwhile and put a little effort into it. These are the final evaluations from BLUEandGOLD.com on our 2007 recruits. BlueandGold.com // Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football
Taking a final look: Smith, Nagel, Walker
BlueandGold.com // Taking A Final Look: Smith, Nagel, Walker
Harrison Smith: He’s one of the most athletic players in this class as he not only has the ability to perform on either side of the ball and special teams, but he’s also had some high school success on the track by breaking many of his school’s records.
Aaron Nagel: When watching him on film, he comes across as a technician because he always makes a good form tackle, he’s a smart player, and he has knowledge for how the game is supposed to be played.
Brandon Walker: Walker has the ability to kick the ball deep into the end zone (which we haven’t seen for some time)
----------------------------
Taking a final look: Smith, Paskorz, Gray
BlueandGold.com // Taking A Final Look: Smith, Paskorz, Gray
Brian Smith: He has a ton of heart and that all-day tough mentality that assures he’ll put it all out on the line for his team.
Steve Paskorz: He has good athletic ability and one of the things about him that sticks out on film is that he’s always moving forward in pursuit of the football.
Gary Gray: makes good reads to get a jump on the ball when it’s released, and he’s not afraid to go up after the football by using his impressive vertical.
----------------------------
Taking a final look: Nuss, Williams, Neal
BlueandGold.com // Taking A Final Look: Nuss, Williams, Neal
Andrew Nuss: He has exceptional use of his hands by grabbing the cloth of opposing player so he can have better control, and is a sure tackler when he gets his hands on the ball carrier.
Ian Williams: He’s a quality pass rusher, he can play the double-team, he has the quickness to run stunt games on the line, he can tackle in the open field when chasing down a running back, he flat out hustles, and the list could go on.
Kerry Neal: This kid has a non-stop motor and that is so key in a quality defensive player since it’s one of those traits that can’t be taught.
----------------------------
Taking a final look: Romine, Dever, Nwankwo
BlueandGold.com // Taking A Final Look: Romine, Dever, Nwankwo
Matt Romine: I can honestly say that out of the offensive linemen on the West roster for the Army All-American Bowl, Romine impressed me the most.
Taylor Dever: This player just has that level of nastiness that you like to see out of your players on the line, and he’s not satisfied until he pancakes the defender.
Emeka Nwankwo I can’t stress enough how well Nwankwo moves for his size and he’s one of the better pulling lineman that I’ve seen on film in a while due to that great mobility
----------------------------
Taking a final look: Clausen, Hughes, Allen
BlueandGold.com // Taking A Final Look: Clausen, Hughes, Allen
Jimmy Clausen: He exudes that leadership quality that you love in a player and possesses all the tools to become a great college quarterback.
Robert Hughes: He offers another dimension to the back field by not only being a great power runner with agility, but he has good speed at his size to keep the defenders on their toes.
Armando Allen: It’s very rare that you see him go down from initial contact on film, and he is constantly moving his legs to gain every yard possible on the carry.
----------------------------
The last Taking a final look is Ragone, Kamara and Tate, but that is premium which I'll summarize myself.
Mike Ragone: A field stretching tight-end who is a perfect compliment to Reuland. Ragone can line up as a reciever on occasion or create hell for any linebacker who has to cover him. The best athlete of TE's last year IMO and will be a perfect fit for Notre Dame's passing game in the future.
Duval Kamara: A Stovall clone as many say. Played in a very run happy offense so he didn't get enough balls thrown his way, but when he did a big play followed. He is raw, but probably has the best upside of any Senior receiver last year. He was a bigger get than people realize and expect him to make some noise during fall camp.
Golden Tate: The Jack of all trades. He is a top athlete who can play WR, RB, or even DB. He will play WR for Notre Dame and is a perfect compliment to Kamara for he is a smaller, quicker, shiftier big play threat. A true Notre Dame kid and will look to make an impact as a return man this upcoming season.
------That is all I thought I'd go big for my 1,000th post while watching the Yankee game.
