After his 5th visit to Notre Dame LB David Posluszny from Aliquippa, PA decided to pull the trigger for the Irish and end his recruiting process. David becomes the 6th member of Notre Dame's '08 recruiting class and the 2nd on the defensive side of the ball.

From what I've read, he's only played 4 games at LB in HS. His athleticism should make him a good LB as he bulks up to 225 or so. I'm curious why Penn St didn't even offer him. In fact Pitt & WVU seemed to be the only notable schools to offer other than ND. Oh well, PSU's loss is ND's gain.

Penn State did not put an offer in writing to Posluszny, but the school did make a verbal offer. Official offers came from Wisconsin, Northwestern, Louisville and Georgia Tech.

There's a good chance that many schools didn't want to spend to much time on David because they already knew they wouldn't have much of a chance with him.

From what I gather, (which is not much) Penn State did not offer because they were overloaded at the LB position, and they would not need many LBs.
