Also if we are winning games Clausen jr and sr seasons why play Crist a lot? He may get a series or two if we are blowing out someone but to sub him in for a few series a game is absurd especially if Jimmy develops like many think he will.

So, you don't think DC should play at all until JC is gone? So that when JC is gone, we will have a QB that has played very little college ball and be possibly back to where we were last season? I know Sharpley isn't the same caliber as JC and DC, but I don't believe I ever saw him throw a pass while BQ was here. If he did, it wasn't often enough for me to remember. If we are playing in a game where we are winning by a lot in the 4th quarter, then I think it benefits the team as a whole to let the 2nd string QB (and other positions, too) get some playing time. That's called experience, so that when they do have to be THE GUY, they will be comfortable with the role. Admittedly, losing BQ and not having another 4 or 5 star QB (besides a true freshman) waiting in the wings hurt ND bad. But even if we did, if he didn't have much experience, he wouldn't have been able to get 10-12 wins for us regardless of what the O-line looked like. If we aren't running up the score, then I think we should always stick with our #1 guy. Otherwise, let the future QB get some much needed experience. Sitting on the bench and watching isn't the same as actually getting down and dirty learning on the job.

Dayne Crist will not start next year unless there are injuries. And to everyone who is talking about a redshirt being the best thing for him this year...In an interview with mike Frank on Power Hour he was asked about redshirting next year. Without any hesitation he said absolutely not. This doesn't mean he won't red shirt, just that he has no intention of giving up the opportunity for the job just so that he can sit and learn.

I heard Dayne say last year that he knows there is a possibility he may not start until his Junior year, and that he was fine with that. (Insert standard cliches about team) is basically what he said. He's solid, can't wait.

We must play DC a lot - Next season, not this one. Since he'll be the backup, he needs to be in every blowout game, and in early. He needs to be chucking the ball around, even if we're up by a wide margin. Like USC does. Petey says it's okay since he is doing it with subs, not the starters, and I kinda agree. If you have the starters in, then let the air out of the ball. But air it out with the subs, within reason of course.

I think Weis learns a lot from his mistakes, and he's made a few. He should have played Sharpley more instead of BQ, but I think he was trying to help with the Heisman vote. We possibly won't have that problem next year. Besides, team before players.

Hanson from the SB Tribune was on Louisville talk radio today. He said JC physically looks the part (+30 lbs) and is throwing the ball 25 - 30 yards farther than last season. His worry is what's going on in JC's head. He feels JC has made up for the bad start with his teammates (limo etc) and has gained the respect of teammates, but still thinks he has a chance to go Todd Marinovich on us after his upbringing, the way he started, he still uses private QB coaches, etc.
